Engine Belts And Pulleys Problems of Mazda Protege

The contact believed that her vehicle is associated to Mazda manufacturer number 3005c (intake manifold shutter and variable tumble control valves emission recall). The contact stated while driving 50 mph when the engine seized, the contact was able to pull over to the side of the road safely. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated until after the vehicle was stalling check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing to be replaced timing belt and engine. The contact stated when the independent mechanics were taking apart the engine they found a screw inside the intake and valve has failed. The contact stated the vehicle have not been repair as yet. The contact stated a local dealer was contacted, and informed that the vehicle is not associated to the recall. The manufacturer had been informed of failure, and also informed that the vehicle is not associated to the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.

My son purchased a 1999 Mazda Protege lx last year. He has had major problems with the engine running hot. He was told he needed a timing belt and water pump. He had the car fixed at a cost of $750. 00. Again the same thing happened about two months later. He again is being told that he needs the same work done. This time it is going to cost him $900. 00 and the engine has to be tested to see if there is no damage. If there is damage to the engine it will be more costly. Also the power locks are damaged and this occurred the first week of purchase.

While pulling into parking space with foot on brakes vehicle suddenly accelerated. The vehicle jumped the parking bump & hit a brick wall. No physical injuries. Prior to acceleration, had venicle at dealer & the timing belt was adjusted.
