One problem related to front seat belt buckle assembly has been reported for the 2002 Mazda Protege 5. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Seat belt failed to release upon pressing the release button. After about 10 minutes of trying it finally released itself. Once free the seat belt no longer would work. Had there been a fire I would not of been able to get out in time.
