Air Bag Light On problems of the 2001 Mazda Tribute

The air bag light came on. I called Mazda to see if there was a recall because I feel this is a safety issue. The light is for the driver position. Mazda (local) states no recall for my SUV but to bring SUV in for a fee to check it out and additional fee if needed. I was advised by Mazda north american operations ok to continue to drive but do have it checked out. They are working with me with this issue.

The airbag light comes on and off, Mazda says it has something to do with the safety belt pretensioner.

My 2001 Mazda Tribute experience airbag trouble for no apparent reason. The airbag lights will blink 4 times then 7 times tnen will stay on . This problem happens quite a few times in the past.

Air bag light on solid - this has occurred 6 times. The dealer replaced the seat belts and assemblies twice and the other times not able to find the problem they cleared the code.

Air bag light stays on. When taken to dealer, dealer replaced air bag module three times already. Also, replaced the wire harness . Problem still occurs.

The air bag light illuminated on six different occasions. The dealer replaced the seat belt retractor on the driver and passenger side four times. The light continued to illuminate. Please provide further details.
