Six problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 2002 Mazda Tribute.

1 While driving 45 and going to 55 there is a knocking in the overdrive. This occurs all the time now trans fluid is full and clean.

2 The contact owns a 2002 Mazda Tribute. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled and was towed to the nearest dealer. The dealer stated that a new transmission was needed. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 30,000.

3 2002 madza Tribute with 68,000 needs a new transmission. Just had a value job done on the engine approx. 4 months ago. Madza warranty- including drive train - up at 50,000 miles.

4 We have a 2002 Mazda Tribute ES 2wd. On several occasions, the vehicle has stalled at slow speeds (so far). The stalling has occurred when shifting from park to reverse, reverse to drive, and it also happened when we drove over a speed bump. The Mazda dealership has made three unsuccessful attempts to fix the problem so far. The vehicle is at the dealer at the moment for the fourth attempt. If this is unsuccessful, we are going to pursue a refund under the north carolina lemon law.

5 While driving down hill at 35mph and with no warning vehicle stalled and caused consumer to pull over. Dealer notified.

6 While placing vehicle in reverse and accelerating vehicle will stall, and accelerate forward a couple feet. Dealer has been notified, and has been aware of problem for 2nd time.
