Accelerator got stuck multiple times in cold weather. At stops and signals or turns, after the vehicle is completely stopped accelarator gets stuck. Have to press very hard and some times take 5-10 minutes to move. On 2/4 got stuck one time and on 2/6 stuck 3 times on the road.

Failure Date: 02/25/2013

The first time I had an issue with the gas pedal, I was backing out of a driveway and the pedal got stuck all the way down. My car wouldn't move. Since then, I've had 5 instances where I'm driving my car and let up on the gas pedal and it gets stuck. I have to stomp on the pedal multiple times for it to start working again. I'm always in traffic and have to turn on my hazard lights and pull off to the side if there is a shoulder available. This has also happened when merging onto the interstate when traffic is moving over 50 mph. This is very dangerous and I'm upset to find that many other owners have had this issue and we have to pay to get this fixed. It should be a recall.

The contact had to apply the brake and depress the accelerator pedal simultaneously in order for the pedal to release. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 69,000.

Gas pedal sticks. Can't be pressed down.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem 6
Failure Date: 11/01/2010

My accelerator gets stuck frequently. This is dangerous and there is no way this could be my fault. It has gotten stuck on several occasions since November of 2008. On a separate note: my brake booster failed (twice) in two years.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem 7
Failure Date: 10/04/2010

I have had problems in the past where my gas pedal gets stuck. It's almost as if there is something lodged beneath the pedal, but the floor area is clear and free from any clutter. I have also noticed that this problem occurs once the weather changes; as soon as winter season starts is when I have this problem. I had it taken to a local mechanic shop and was told that there was a carbon build-up that needed to be cleaned out. The mechanic stated the carbon build-up was not allowing the throttle plate/flap to open and close like it should which was causing the gas pedal to stick. This can lead to a very dangerous or life-threatening car accident. This has happened for the past two years and is now starting up again. The only other complaint other than this is that the vehicle makes for a very noisy ride on the highway; I hear all outside noises such as the wind and bumps on the road.

2005 Mazda Tribute gas pedal sticking. Unable to accelerate at times. Almost cause a major traffic accident.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem 9
Failure Date: 05/07/2010

Gas pedal sticks in the up-position. No matter how hard I step on the gas pedal, it will not unjam until it's ready to. This has happened over 50 times, but the worst was yesterday when it happened in the middle of heavy traffic. I was almost stopped by the time the accelerator became unstuck, and the pressure I was applying caused the vehicle to jump forward, squealing the tires. Unnerving and dangerous!.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem 10
Failure Date: 02/24/2010

The contact owns a 2005 Mazda Tribute. While driving approximately 60 mph on the freeway the accelerator pedal became stuck and the contact almost drove onto a curb. She was able to slow the vehicle down; however, when she engaged the accelerator pedal, it failed to engage. The driver pumped the brake pedal and was then able to engage the accelerator pedal. The failure occurred more than 20 times. The failure recurred when she was driving 35 mph. When she tried to apply the brake pedal it didn't correct the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 65,020.

In August 2004, I purchased a 2005 brand new Mazda Tribute SUV. At the end of 2005, I started having trouble with my accelerator sticking. I took it to the dealer for repair and assumed that this problem would never occur again. But, to my dismay, it seems to occur every year, especially when the cold weather arrives. I have taken it to the dealer several times for repair and I was told that I would need to come back within a certain amount of miles to have the throttle cleaned so the accelerator will not stick. Also, was told that this problem occurs with these type of vehicles. The throttle gets grime and gump in it and that's what causes the sticking. Recently, on last Friday, it began to stick again when I was driving into my neighborhood I could not get up on my driveway. I had to coast it along the side of the street and park it. Whenever this occurs, I cannot press on the accelerator at all, it will not budge and my car tends to lose power and begins to slow down. On Sunday evening, I was on the interstate when it occurred, very scary, I coast over into the right hand lane and over to the shoulder of the road, so I would not be hit from behind. On Monday morning, on my way to work, I was at a stop light and when I went to pull off after the light turned green, it would not move. This is so ridiculous, as I have to go to the dealer each time and pay for something that should have been a recall. I don't know if others have complained about this or not, but I decided to because I am afraid for my safety as well as others. This is very dangerous.

Gas pedal sticks. You have to press or stomp hard in order to get the pedal unstuck. This is bad and could cause an accident. Will be taking in to have it checked out. Read other reports of this says it may be carbon build up. Not sure but something needs to be down if this is a wide spread problem.

Failure Date: 11/20/2008

During the winter after the purchase of my new Mazda Tribute, the gas pedal was sticking-I could not push the pedal down it was sticking so bad. I talked to the dealership and they told me it was carbon build up. They did clean it for me. It stuck last winter too. Now the gas pedal is sticking more than ever and they are telling me I need a whole new gas pedal assembly and estimated the cost at $191. 00. I told them that this has been an ongoing problem and that someone is going to be killed over it. I have a 14 month old daughter and I am afraid to drive this vehicle. They told me they were not aware of any gas pedals sticking and it would not be covered under warranty. I then researched the sticking gas pedal and found out that it is a very wide spread problem.

Accelerator sticks especially in cool weather. When trying to accelerate from a the gas pedal has to be hit hard causing a sudden acceleration. This is extremely dangerous in wet conditions or in traffic. Talked to Mazda dealership and this was a problem with 2002 models and a recall was issued.

Failure Date: 10/06/2008

I own a 2005 Mazda Tribute and have had numerous incidents with the gas pedal sticking. This happens most often on cold fall mornings. The pedal will stick and not allow me to accelerate, general happening when I've been stopped at a red light, waiting to make a turn, or just as I go to accelerate while traveling straight. It has almost caused several accidents. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice without them able to solve the problem. This has happened every fall since 2005 and Mazda will not recognize the problem.

I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute that the gas pedal sticks on. I have had this problem fixed twice and it is recurring. It is a big safety risk because you never know when it is going to stick. It typically starts out only happening in the morning but it progresses to any time throughout the day. You may be driving and stop or decelerate and then when you start to go you cant because the gas pedal is stuck. And it will take multiple tries of pressing it before it will go. I don't know what to do. I know I will take it back to the dealership they will fix it and charge me and then in a few months the problem will reoccur. Please advise me on what to do. I also have a problem with the metal interior of the seat protruding under the fabric of the seat.

2005 Mazda Tribute gas pedal sticks, no rhyme nor reason. . . . . . Circumstances are never the same, so it is scary when it happens. I press the gas and think that the Tribute is going to move, and nothing happens. Thankfully, I've never been hit! ( yet) . Dealer repair shop was of no help. Click automotive ( where I bought the vehicle ) , tells me to" bring it in when it's happening" . Stomping on the pedal doesn't cure it, it resumes working when it feels like it. I try shifting from gear to gear. . . . . . . . Reverse, neutral etc. Then all of a sudden it resumes working like nothing happened. This has been going on for the last 3 years at least.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Mazda tribune. The contact stated the accelerator pedal sticks and the vehicle will not move. As she pulls out of the driveway on to the road the acclerator pedal will stick and the vehicle sits in the road while oncoming traffic was coming towards her. . The vehicle was taken to the dealer who ran a diagnostic test but no codes were showing. Unless there are codes showing the dealer will not work on the vehicle and stated the computer shows no failure. The manufacturer was contacted who stated she should take the vehicle back to the dealer and they will run another diagnostic test. The contact stated each time she take the vehicle back for a diagnostic test she has to pay for the test. The failure mileage 82,000. . . Mw.

Gas pedal sticking and difficult to depress. Pedal/throttle body, "sticks" so that you must apply more and more pressure to the gas pedal until it "breaks free" and starts to accelerate the vehicle. This can cause the vehicle to lunge forward (or backward if in reverse). More of a nuisance at moment, but has become progressively worse in last month.

The gas pedal sticks (up position). Usually when it is cool out, though it has happened in warm temperatures. It happens when my foot has released the gas pedal and presses back onto it to accelerate. It does not go down. Most times I have to slam my foot on it a couple of times before it works (accelerates) but there has been several times that hasn't worked and I have had to let my car coast of to the side of the road. This is very scary! happens several times a day especially when it is cooler outside.

I have read over 200 complaints of Mazda Tribute 2005 gas pedal sticking and can not be depressed. I have had this problem on several occasions where I will stop at a light or stop sign and will try to depress my gas pedal and it will not move. I have almost been reared ended several times because of this. I have also issued a complaint to NHTSA before in regards to this.

Accelerator pedal began sticking. I could not raise the pedal up or press it down. Suddenly, car would take off. This happens at any time during driving. I have taken the car back to dealership twice for the same problem, all within 6 months time. I feel this is a safety issue with the vehicle. I was told it was carbon build up on the throttle body. I feel it is an issue with the Tribute, other cars do not have this issue. All they did was clean the throttle body both times. They also said it was not covered under warranty although they did not charge me for the work done. I am leary about driving my car since I never know when it will start sticking again.

While accelerating, the accelerator gets stuck and the car suddenly slows down to a crawl. Driver has to pull over and pump accelerator in order to get it unstuck. Checked with dealer initially and called Mazda today January 8, 2014 to ask if there have been a recall. Was told, no. In the past, had to take car to mechanic and left it to be test driven in order for mechanic to replicate problem. Mechanic found the problem and cleaned accelerator. Problem continuous sporadically.

The gas pedal will get stuck in the up position periodically. It happens more often during the cold seasons. I have had many close calls getting into an accident while making a right turn and on coming traffic is approaching during the time I am trying to accelerate to get on to the lane and my accelerator gets stuck and the car is still slowly moving. I will literally have to continuously stomp on the pedal to get it to go down and once it does it accelerates quickly causing the vehicle to forward. I have taken it in the dealer to see what the issue was and they told me it was due to the carbon build up on the butterfly causing it to get stuck but even after getting the flush out it continued to get stuck while I am driving. I have gone online to see if anyone else has had this issue and sure enough there was.

The contact owns a 2005 Mazda Tribute. While driving approximately 55 mph the accelerator pedal became stuck causing the vehicle to decelerate. The contact activated his emergency lights and was able to stop the vehicle on the emergency lane. After restarting the vehicle, the accelerator pedal functioned normally. The contact stated the failure occurred intermittently during cold or rainy weather. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 25.

Mazda Tribute 05. Gas pedal got stuck in the up position as I was turning in an intersection. Luckily no cars coming parked on the grass. This happened 2xs. Dealership just stated it needed a 150. 00 throttle housing lubrication. Did not have it done due to it was not covered on the warranty. After this time it happened 2 more time to me and just 2 days ago it happened to my husband with our kids in the car. Luckily again no accident.
