Headlights Problems of Mazda Tribute

The contact owns a 2002 Mazda Tribute. While driving at night, the contact stated that the headlights failed without warning. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The current and failure mileages were unknown. The VIN was unavailable.

2008 Mazda Tribute condensation in sealed beam headlight. Dealership is saying that Mazda corporate sent out an email disallowing the repair of headlights with condensation in them. The corporate email apparently states that this is a "normal" occurrence and will not be covered under warranty. I am afraid that this could impair our night vision or lead to an electrical short in the vehicle. Please investigate the validity of Mazdas claim since water should not be in the headlight. Headlights go out.

1. Mositure in passenger side headlight at 10kmi. 2. Coolant indicator light @ 14k mi. 3. Engine light @ 15k mi. 4. Engine shuts down, lose brakes and steering, traveling at 55-60 mph approaching and slowing down to make a left-hand turn at a slightly downward slope in road. Had to put vehicle in park and restart engine. Could have turned in front of oncoming vehicles and been hit broadside due to loss of all power. Ake. Nlm.

Water buildup in right (passenger side) headlight with no apparant cracks.

Parking lights are integrated with an engine off headlight timer. Lights will extinguish after approximately 90 seconds. Dearlership reports there is no known way to override this timer. Vehicle cannot be parked with illumination for more than approximately 90 seconds.

The left headlight has collected moisture since purchasing the vehicle. We have dried it out once only to have it fill with water with one rain shower. The headlight is not cracked or open to view.
