Front passenger door handle won't open door from inside. Plastic hook inside handle assembly broke. Door can only be opened from the exterior.
Tribute gas pedal is locking (sticking) and unable to be pressed. This problem has occurred several times lately the latest being this morning while taking my child to school trying to go up a hill I was unable to press the gas pedal which I had to abruptly pull over nearly causing an accident and scaring my child and myself. This is occurring more frequently and thus becoming more hazardous. Something needs to be done to correct this problem, it going to cause a serious accident or fatality.
2008 Mazda Tribute gas pedal sticks. This has happened on several occasions even when having to accelerate. My vehicle jerks forward when I have to press the pedal hard to get my vehicle to move. It is uncomfortable and yet scary when driving.
I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute. I've been having problems with the gas pedal. The gas pedal sticks sometimes, and it won't excelerate. The dealership stated they found no problem.
My 2005 Mazda Tribute abs and 4 wheel drive light came on one day when I got on the freeway and has not gone away since I dont know what cause this.
I have a Mazda Tribute 2009 with 75000 miles. My accelerator pedal sticks and I have to step on it really hard to get the car to move, then it lurches forwarded and jerks the driver and passengers in the car. This situation is worse when the weather is cold. I am concerned that this is a real safety issue. I can not remember how long ago this problem started. I've taken to the dealership where I purchased that car and the problem was "fixed" for s short time but his since returned and it getting worse. I'm taking it back again in the morning. I have discovered with internet research that many Tribute owners have had this problem and that is was a recall issue back in 2004. My Tribute is a 2009 model. Why am I having this problem with a newer model Tribute? is there a more recent recall?.
After reading other similar complaints, I felt compelled to address this issue with the gas pedal. It seems Mazda has been aware of this problem for many years, yet no recall. The gas pedal sticks in weather colder than 50 degrees. For an all-terrain vehicle (SUV) which is made to go off-road and in mountains, this is a pretty serious safety issue. When I conferred with my local Mazda dealer, they wanted to charge me $400 for parts and labor to "replace" a faulty mechanism. I feel I shouldn't have to pay for something which is inherent with these Tribute vehicles and for which Mazda is fully aware.
2006 Mazda Tribute. Runs fine durring warm weather. At the slightest outbreak of cold weather, accelerator does not depress, unable to get any power from the engine. Will freeze up at times while driving or not work at all. Has been doing this for years, Mazda refuses to acknowledge problem. Has almost caused numerous accidents when accelrating around a turn due to loss of power. Mazda has recalled previous model years for this problem but will not recall this model. Please change that.
I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute that for some reason the gas pedal gets stock, it seems to do this when the weather changes from hot to cold?.
Consumer suggestion for safety for all vehicles. The consumer suggested the brake lights should be connected to the side of both fenders.
While driving on freeway at 70 mph, vehicle swerves violently. Drove straight on rain groove surface, nearly roll over.
2001 Mazda Tribute. Consumer states the doors will not open from the inside. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they did not try to do anything, they would not even look at vehicle. The doors were on child safety locks, and consumer thought that may have been the reason for doors locking. However, when she took the safety locks off it did not help. Consumer received a recall, and called the manufacturer. She was advised to take the vehicle to dennison Mazda. There was no information on the recall at this time. She took the vehicle to dealer, and was told they had to order the parts and she was to come back that following Tuesday. When she returned to dealer, she was told warranty expired and they would not do the work. The recall was on a sensor.
Unable to open doors from inside of vehicle. After 90000 miles driver and passenger doors became inopperable within 2 days of each other. Driver's side could not be opened from inside or outside while passenger side door could be opened by rolling down the window and lifting up on outside handle. Shop determined that handle(chromed plastic) inside door mechanism(Mazda part#ec01-58-330n)cracked. The handle has a 1/16th" raised catch that cracked off on both handles. The second incident happened just 10months later @109k once again both handles were involved but this time they were 1 week apart. The parts cost (as of 8/24/04) 52. 29 + labor each. I have old parts. No children used these doors only 2 adults. This is a serious situation due to the inability to open the doors from the inside in the event of an emergency or the need to exit the vehicle quickly. You must first roll down the window & reach outside or if the vehicle is off you must restart to open electric windows if you have power at all, if not you are stuck inside and unable to exit.
1. The first problem I had with my Tribute was all the power steering fluid had leaked out, so they replaced the rack and pinion. 2. The second, when going for my first brake job I'm informed that the front rotors are too thin and under specs. And need to be replaced (a $700 job) so, I went to Mazda and they said the brake pads are too hard for the rotors are are unusually wearing so, they replaced my rotors. 3. The third, a week later I'm strained, because the starter stuck and burned itself out, they towed the car and replaced the starter. 4. The fourth, they told me that the master cylinder had leakage so, I had to have them fix that. 5. The fifth, now I am currently dealing with a sputtering or cluncking noise that occurs upon slow acceleration of 40 mph with pedal vibration and also occurs sometimes at 60 mph now. They haven't been able to figure out and fix this problem yet. But, thought they fixed the problem because they found a bushing near the engine compartment that was completely cracked so, they replaced that. Until next time. . . . .
Vehicle stalled while driving. Also at another occation, vehicle would only start in neutural gear.
Tire jack will not raise vehicle high enough so that rear wheel can be removed.
The contact owns a 2002 madza Tribute. The current and failure mileage were 49000. Three recalls have been received for the vehicle and it is becoming an inconvenience to take the vehicle back to the dealer for repair. The overall performance of the vehicle is disappointing to the contact. It is the fact that her vehicle is constantly being recalled that is upsetting and frustrating.
While going downhill at appximately 40 mph, engine stalled. Lost power brakes and steering. Able to stop car safely (barely). Taking vehicle to dealer. Had initally made an appointment since my engine check light came on 4 days before this stalling incident. I asked the dealer if I should still drive my Tribute with the engine check light on, they said it was safe and not to worry. Don't know if the two problems are related or not.
The engine light came on and the engine stalled, losing control of the steering and the brakes. I had to coast to a stop in the center turning lane. After the vehicle came to a stop, I put the vehicle in park and restarted the car without any problems. If there had not been a turning lane, I would have crashed into the car in front of me. If I had been passing a car at the time, I could have been hit by oncoming traffic. This is the first time this has happened to me, but from researching this problem, it is apparent this is happening to many people. I took the Tribute to the dealer and they said this problem was not occuring with my vehicle, but with the 2. 0 liter engine Tributes. He implied that I might have hit the keys in some way and turn the engine off. I got no satisfaction from the service department, so I had no option but to voice my concern about this safety issue.
Instrument panel is dark, and consumer cannot see anything on it. Dealership is aware of problem.
Engine stalled after going down a hill at 35-40 mph. No engine warning light came on. Was able to restart without further problems.
Vehicle going uphill, engine stopped, brakes were used to stop vehicle from rolling downhill, engine light, battery light and oil light came on. No components working inside of the car except the windows. Car remained stationary for 20 minutes waiting on help and then started after several tries. Slight shimmy while driving to the dealer, along with tachometer jumping about on at a steady speed.
I had the same exact problem with my vehicle for two occurrences. Each time I was coming down a hill and then all of my dash lights came on (check engine, oil, etc. ). I was unable to steer or give it gas easily. Each time I was not in a safe location, so I turned off the engine and the car restarted fine. I have had the car at the dealer I purchased it from since it occurred the 2nd time which was over a month and a half ago. They have told me numerous times that it is not doing it for them. The service manager caused me two weeks ago and told me the Mazda manufacturer was in their office and he was aware of two similar problems in two other Mazda Tributes. I just wanted your office to be aware of this. I am very concerned because I was unable to get off the road on the 2nd occurrence and it was very scary. I just hope it can be fixed so I do not hurt myself or anyone else due to this problem. Thank you for your help!!.
Engine check light came on, and consumer smelled fuel inside vehicle. Dealer informed her that fuel tank was leaking. But that fuel tanks were on back order. Could not give her a time frame, but assured her vehicle was safe to drive.
Mazda recall. The consumer contacted Mazda about a recall and was informed the repair was made in March 2005 and therefore, they had full-filled their obligation. The consumer stated the replacement part has since failed. There are five recalls for this vehicle, however the consumer did not specify which recall.
My Mazda Tribute stalls at high speeds. Most recently, going downhill at 45 mph. Engine died, battery lights and oil lights turned on. . . No warning at all. I lost power to the steering wheel and brakes. Very dangerous because it happened so suddenly, and there was no safe place to get off the road. This is the third incident with this car, the second stalling. My car only has 21,000 miles.
While driving 45 mph battery light and oil light illuminated on dashboard, resulting in engine to stalling.
