Mercedes Benz 320 owners have reported 7 problems related to suspension (under the suspension category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving on the express way at night at around 50 mph; there was a loud bang and a sound of metal being thrown around under the car. The sound came from the passenger side of the car. Then after a loud thump there was no longer any noise. The car didn't feel the same after that. After pulling over and checking the passenger side, you could see that the car was very low to the ground, the wheels touched the top of the wheel well. The next morning after jacking the car up the spring was no longer in the car, and the entire upper assembly of the spring setup was completely torn off. After looking close you see that there was quite a lot of rust where the metal should have been protected. After researching online it is apparent that this is a very frequent and well known problem, and that the coil spring perch was poorly protected in my model of mercedes. There hasn't been any recall for this issue.

4/3/2012 for 2 days rattle from left front end. Had it checked at independent tire dealer. Said strut bushing dry. Lubed it. A few hours later nose intensified and spring and other pieces fell onto road as I was turning left into condo driveway. Having it towed to dealer. Had I been at speed and/or in traffic things could have turned out very bad. All 97 e320's should have this area inspected.

Various problems with electrical, heating and cooling, suspension, power steering, lighting, and purge valve systems. Spent 7k in last 3 years alone. Heating and cooling system was removed and reinstalled twice and still does not work right. Struts and steering system completely brakes down every 6 months. I am in the repair shop every 2-3 months! average out of pocket (after extended warranty) $500. . . Outrageous (x4 or 5 per year!). Warranty kicks in another 4k per year. My records show 14 visits to mercedes repair shops since November 2004. . . Insane. This is my first and last mercedes! even my service adviser told me to get a Lexus or Acura!.

This incident occurred to my 1999 Mercedes Benz e320 sedan. The "incident" involves the failure of the right front spring perch failure. If it were not for an inspection related to routine maintenance, my mechanic was sure that a serious catastrophic failure would have occurred. From what I have been able to gleen from Mercedes Benz owner websites, this is a fairly common occurrence in these vehicles and yet mb has not ordered a recall.
While driving at any speed vehicle pulled to the right. Dealer inspected vehicle several times, and could not solve the problem. The last time vehicle was at the dealer, technician determined the need to buy a special kit for vehicle alignment. Manufacturer refused to correct problem even though vehicle is under warranty.

When driving at 40 the vehicle is shaking and the rubber is pulling away from the tires on the vehicle.
Since purchase vehicle has been pulling to right. Took to dealer 4- 5 times, did wheel alignment and changed tires. Vehicle will not retain a wheel alignment, constantly pulls to right.
