We received a recall notice on our mercedes stating that over time the bonding in the glass panel and sunroof frame might deteriorate over time and cause the glass to separate from the vehicle. On 02/06/25, my son brought his car into the mercedes dealership in lafayette, indiana to take care of the recall. The service tech signed off on the recall and told him everything was ok. On 02/21/25, he was driving down the highway and the entire glass part of the sunroof flew off behind him! luckily there wasn’t a driver behind him. He was very startled and could’ve swerved off the road causing injury to himself or others. If someone was behind him they could’ve been injured or even killed. We called the dealership immediately. The service manager told my husband that they checked the glass on the roof and our car was not part of the recall and there was nothing they could do! since that day, (one month) we have been trying to get someone to help us. We have contacted the gm at the dealership, talked to 3 people at mercedes corporate only to be hung up on once and put on hold for 45 minutes the other time. To this day we are unable to get anyone to address the issue. The NHTSA clearly stated our vehicle is part of this recall yet the dealership is stating the glass number wasn’t listed. Obviously our vehicle is part of the recall considering what happened!.
To whom this may,I been having problems with check engine light keep coming on,I'm paying alot of money on this car,it could be that recall hose on back order causing that check engine light to come on,please help!!!!!!.
This automobile is unsafe because of the dangerous sunroof being detached.
Sometimes, engines yellow light is on, and car had a little shaking, and lakes are soft when braking,. And the car window aside of front guest stops moving up and down.
I bought the C230 at one year old. I had e perienced two times thatwhile freeway driving all power would be lost. Pulled over and put in park, rev engine a bit but rpm's would not move. Fast forward to December 2008 I sold car go my mom because I had a baby and car was too small. My mom since having car has lost power while freeway driving a total of six times now. Very dangerous as there is no "code" or "error" for mechanic when diagnosing, nor is benz ackowleding ghe issue.
I was involved in an auto accident (rear-ended) on Dec 21st 2010. . . . The collision resulted in my vehicle being pushed in to another vehicle (truck) in font of me. The resulting crash produced damages to the front and rear of the car totling 15k. I noticed that my dashbord was lit up with warning signals and check engine lights at the seen of tte collision. The rear light was explainable as the light was knocked out in the crash. The engine light however was a bit of a mystery. I took the car in for repairs three days later after consulting with the driver at faults' insurance company. The repair company noted the light also. I could arrive at no other conclusion but that the colission was responsible for my engine light suddenly coming on. The insurance company arugues that the collision had nothing to do with that particular light coming on. The matter is being dealt with in court. In the meantime, I did some research and ran across hundreds of complaints on line, by Mercedes Benz drivers, complaining of a cam shaft problem that is identified by an engine engine light initially. It appears that a part was defective yet no recall has been issued by mercedes. I've reached out to Mercedes Benz of America. After several calls responding to my inquiry, they stopped informing me of any further findings. This after promising to apprise me of the status of my complaint. My issue is two fold. How much evidence is necessary before it is clear that this product and the series of cars that are impacted by it, warrents a recall? somthing needs to be done about this wide-spread issue? I must tell you that as a consumer, it is no mystery what most have lost trust in governments abilty to seve and protect its citizens in these matters. I for one am dissapointed in the effectiveness of the process. I initially contacted this office eight months ago and have heard nothing. Regards, spencer tillman.
