3 Steering problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 12/22/2018

Takata recall" 2006 Mercedes Benz C230 I was driving home and my car started misfiring really bad, the check engine light came on and started flickering and stayed on and the lights in the car on the dash and on the radio started to flicker on and off and then the car just was limp it wouldn't even pick up speed it was slowing down on the freeway with very busy traffic . I was scared for my life and my friend that we were going to come to a complete stop in rush hour traffic . I tried to hurry home but it was would not pick up speed it keep going slower and slower and when we had to slow down or stop due to traffic it actually turned completely off twice and I was so scared that an acceident would happen it was misfiring and just a terrible experience this should be some kind of recall or something they need to look into it abc fix it before someone gets hurt or worse .

4 Steering problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

My first incidence was driving and the steering would all of a sudden get stiff like it needed power steering fluid or something. Check it wasn't the fluid (this happened a few month ago I thought hmmm probably just something freaky) then 1/8/16 riding down the busy interstate highway the car acceleration just left. I pressed the accelerator to the floor but no speed. It was extremely scary. I had the car checked out. . . It's the classic problem I never heard of until today. ( intake manifold tumble flap) some plastic junk on an expensive car. If I wanted a junk car I would've went to the "junk yard" paid like 250. And be done with it. I'm very disappointed and angry. I'm glad my kids wasn't in the car and it wasn't a horrific outcome. Now I can't do anything with the car right now because it's expensive to repair for such a cheap piece that shouldn't have never been on it and because #1 I'm on a fixed income #2 I still have to pay for it. But what does mb care about that. . . . Its just a product to them, a money maker.

5 Steering problem of the 1998 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

I was sitting stopped in traffic with the engine off, and the front drivers' side of my vehicle just spontaneously dropped as if that part of the vehicle had fallen into a sink hole. I was waiting for a draw bridge to come down after a sailboat passed, so the car was turned off. When I got out of the vehicle to inspect what had happened, I could see that the front spring had separated from its top mount in what I assume was the frame of the vehicle. When I searched on-line I found that this is something that happens all the time with various models of Mercedes Benz. If I had been driving at highway speed I and anyone else in the car could have easily been killed, not to mention other vehicles, since the vehicle steering is also compromised with the wheel bottoming-out on the inside of the front of the vehicle. The car is a '98, but with only 148,000, this should not have happened. Clearly it's a design flaw. Why does NHTSA let Mercedes Benz get away with this without demanding a recall? when you look on the web, you can see that this is happening to many people, and not only is mercedes refusing to fix it for free, dealers are charging customers thousands of dollars to fix the design flaw. I just got a quote of $2,000 from one dealer over the phone to fix both front spring perches, and it could be more if anything is damaged other than the perch itself. He said other dealers are charging $5,000 for the repair to both sides. What could be more dangerous than having your front-end suspension disintegrate spontaneously without warning?.

I was entering to my car and ajust the steering wheel, but it did not lock the weel now is up and down and so dangerous to drive any movement and the weel goes up or down depend how I turn down left or rigth and they said that is not a company recall on that situation, but is a safety mara shoul be cover is very unsafe to drive and so expensive to fixed.

7 Steering problem of the 2002 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 07/05/2012

After placing the vehicle in park, I pulled the steering wheel lever lock, (red warning light came on), and adjusted the height and depth of the steering wheel. I then pushed the steering wheel lever lock back in (red warning light disappeared). I started driving and while I was making a right on a curve the steering wheel slipped out of place and almost caused me to swerve into another lane. I pulled over attempted to reengage the steering wheel lock in several different positions, but it would not stay locked. The red warning light only comes on when the steering wheel lock lever is pulled out, but it does not show that the steering wheel is disengaged when the lever is pushed in even though the locking mechanism does not function. I looked online and found a forum with several other people having the same problem on a variety of different vehicles of different years. I feel it is dangerous to operate my vehicle.

9 Steering problem of the 2004 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 08/23/2010

Mercedes C230 kompressor. The bolt that holds the alternator belt has broke 3 times! when the belt slipped it affected the power steering and I was unable to steer! very scary, luckily I was driving under 25 mph at the time. There must be a default in the design for this to keep happening!.

10 Steering problem of the 2005 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 03/05/2009

I was involved in a accident at a stoplight. While waiting for the light to turn green, my car accelerated and I ran into the back of a pickup truck. The truck did not have a scratch on it. I had $over $8,000 damage. The whole front of my car was damaged (smashed up into the windshield). The car was taken to a body shop and repaired. I now find out 3/15/2014 the car has a bent k-frame not to mention the work was shoddy on the body work. I have not had any more accidents. I had just purchased the car the month before as a used vehicle. I want to know why the insurance adjuster did not notice the bent k frame. I now have to pay out of pocket to find a used k frame and pay for the labor. I have driven this car continuously since having it repaired. I moved from new jersey to south carolina driving this car. Something could have happened. Fortunately I've been lucky but what happens now, my new tires in the rear (which I think may have been like this when I bought the car) wear out within 6 months and I often wondered why. The car shakes (the k frame) and the steering wheel has a lot of play in it which I was told will always be like that unless I get it repaired. I have put an insurmountable of money into this car and I'm very disappointed. If it wasn't for the auto shop who put my new tires on last week, I would not have known about this problem. I feel I've been cheated and this car should have been totaled and I given another car! now I cannot afford to get another car right now and I'm scared to drive it.

11 Steering problem of the 2007 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 05/09/2008

The brakes failed while driving my 2007mercedesbenz. 5th time. I leased a mbenz 2007 C230w from bill ussery mercedes January 2007. 2 weeks from purchase brought the car into service told them the car would shake vigorously when pressing on brakes to slow down from 40mph or more. Told nothing was wrong. 2months later brought car back and car was shaking when braking. Confirmed the shaking and brake rotors brake pads, brake discs were replaced, front suspension loose/tightened. This has occurred now on 5 separate occassions. Ongoing since February of 2007. I felt unsafe in the car. Called mbusa on 4 separate occasions beginning in October til now. Claim was filed and I never heard back. On may of 2008,my brakes did not work while traveling on the interstate. I went to slow down to exit,no brakes!car shook worse than ever!had the car towed into mercedes. I will not drive that car again!they refuse to replace the car. Once again stated they fixed my car,to pick it up or storage fees would be charged and car impounded. I refuse to drive a car that can injure or kill me or my son or someone else. The service records on this car clearly state all of the above. Mercedes benz refuses to accept responsibility blaming me as the cause for the rotors, brake pads and discs to be replaced 5 times in less than one year. They won't test drive the car on the interstate to simulate what happened to me, but they want me to come get the car and drive it?I am still without a car and I paid for this lease in full 2yrs. I will never drive it again. No one should have to drive it period!I have never had problems with Mercedes Benz and I love their cars, but this one in particular is defective. Please help me. Thanks.

12 Steering problem of the 2005 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 01/26/2008

First, my steering wheel wire was replaced from a faulty srs light coming on and the esp light coming on. I had to pay for all of this. Next, euromotor cars said the steering wheel collar was broke. I have never had that fixed because they wanted to charge me and I felt they should replace the collar since they replaced the steering wire. Now my car does not start and the instrument cluster does not light up. I cannot unlock the doors with the remote key and I cannot unlock the trunk of the car. My car just sits because I feel I should not have to pay for any of this any more. I have put $6,800 in repairs in this car. I do not want to pay for another vehicle. I feel my car is unsafe. My car was first serviced at herb gordon's auto group in silver spring, maryland. I was not happy with the service so I decided to try euromotors and the service was worse. They continue to put in codes so there will not be a recall and the consumer has to pay out of pocket. Please help in resolving some of the issues I have had with this 2005 C230 kompressor Mercedes Benz. I would also like for this car to be entered into the recall for the steering wire repair just as the e320. I purchased the car with 4,000 miles on it in 10/2005. Thank you.

13 Steering problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz C230

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

This car pulls to the right and nearly changed lanes and almost hit another car during a split second of looking at the gas gage and not down the road. I took the car into mzb with the complaint. They said it was my driving habit. Later they said it was the curve of the road. Still later they said it was the tires not inflated. As I continued to ask for help on this issue and several times bringing it back to the dealer they finally said that a mzb rep will go with me on a test ride. During the test ride I stated that at any moment you ask I will let go of the steering wheel and the car will turn to the right. After several of these demonstrations to him he then held the wheel himself and felt the pull. He agreed with me that there was a problem. Upon returning to the dealership they met in a meeting without me and began to do this and that with the car on the rack. I asked what are you doing? they told me minor adjustments. Later the car was released to me and in fact the problem was better however not corrected. This car has a terrible problem and does not run down the road straight since I bought it new. I drive it now the way it is because I am tired of mzb and their tactics. The car was returned to mzb 12 times in the first year of ownership for repairs. Please help if possible.
