Takata recall I was involved in an accident on Jan 3, 2015 in my 05 mer benz C230 the airbag exploded causing smoke and dust like particals I immedietly got off the car from that point on the car has been sitting tottalled I recently recieved a recall notification on 2/11/2016 I find it hard to believe this is the date this was figured out due to my settlement back in Feb 2015 the insurance company submitted a market value report on my vehicle deducting 2 recalls from my car one being the airbag and this was a year before mercedes even notified there customers. I have severe asthma and could not believe an airbag would contain the trash it didl. Its going on 2 years and my car is still sitting on lot unreparied with airbag inflated this is unbelievable I have documents showing I was complaining about the airbag before takata even thought of mentioning there defect shame on you.

I was sitting stopped in traffic with the engine off, and the front drivers' side of my vehicle just spontaneously dropped as if that part of the vehicle had fallen into a sink hole. I was waiting for a draw bridge to come down after a sailboat passed, so the car was turned off. When I got out of the vehicle to inspect what had happened, I could see that the front spring had separated from its top mount in what I assume was the frame of the vehicle. When I searched on-line I found that this is something that happens all the time with various models of Mercedes Benz. If I had been driving at highway speed I and anyone else in the car could have easily been killed, not to mention other vehicles, since the vehicle steering is also compromised with the wheel bottoming-out on the inside of the front of the vehicle. The car is a '98, but with only 148,000, this should not have happened. Clearly it's a design flaw. Why does NHTSA let Mercedes Benz get away with this without demanding a recall? when you look on the web, you can see that this is happening to many people, and not only is mercedes refusing to fix it for free, dealers are charging customers thousands of dollars to fix the design flaw. I just got a quote of $2,000 from one dealer over the phone to fix both front spring perches, and it could be more if anything is damaged other than the perch itself. He said other dealers are charging $5,000 for the repair to both sides. What could be more dangerous than having your front-end suspension disintegrate spontaneously without warning?.

The right suspension apron rusted, snapped upward, and the spring fell out the bottom of the car. It is not drivable because the right front of the car is almost on the ground. I brought the car to the dealer, and asked them to investigate why this happened. They said that there is danger of the other spring also falling out. The dealer believes that the apron failed due to the age of the car and the mileage on the vehicle. They stated that it was not their responsibility to fix the vehicle, and they did not believe it was a safety issue. I, however, disagree. There are many people complaining on-line of the same suspension problem with the e-class from 1994 to 1999 and the c-class from 1998 to 2000, the years when this particular suspension design was used. Mercedes no longer uses this suspension design on newer vehicles. I believe that this is a catastrophic failure of the suspension due to it poor design, and that the public needs to be aware of this significant safety problem. I believe that mercedes should take responsibility for this problem. There are cars on the road that are much older, with much higher mileage, that have intact suspensions. Luckily, my car was not running at the time. If I had been on the road, especially on the highway, lives could have been lost. I could just quietly repair the vehicle. However, I feel it is my duty to report what I believe is a significant safety problem for the years this suspension design was used. I have pictures of the damaged parts/suspension if you need to see them.

The failure in this case is the replacement of the counter balance shaft on a 2006 C230 Mercedes Benz with less than 100,000 miles. I've read that many of these failures have occurred and the reason for failure was due to the shaft not having proper hardening. I've also read the Mercedes Benz is aware of this problem. The cost of the repair is about $4500 on a vehicle that the warranty goes out in 4 years or 50,000 miles. All services to this vehicle have been done as required, but not through the dealership. Information I've read about this problem states that there's nothing I could have done to keep this from happening and that it's happening to many, many vehicles. I believe if this is happening frequently that the manufacture should be responsible for the costs associated with this type of repair. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I was involved in a accident at a stoplight. While waiting for the light to turn green, my car accelerated and I ran into the back of a pickup truck. The truck did not have a scratch on it. I had $over $8,000 damage. The whole front of my car was damaged (smashed up into the windshield). The car was taken to a body shop and repaired. I now find out 3/15/2014 the car has a bent k-frame not to mention the work was shoddy on the body work. I have not had any more accidents. I had just purchased the car the month before as a used vehicle. I want to know why the insurance adjuster did not notice the bent k frame. I now have to pay out of pocket to find a used k frame and pay for the labor. I have driven this car continuously since having it repaired. I moved from new jersey to south carolina driving this car. Something could have happened. Fortunately I've been lucky but what happens now, my new tires in the rear (which I think may have been like this when I bought the car) wear out within 6 months and I often wondered why. The car shakes (the k frame) and the steering wheel has a lot of play in it which I was told will always be like that unless I get it repaired. I have put an insurmountable of money into this car and I'm very disappointed. If it wasn't for the auto shop who put my new tires on last week, I would not have known about this problem. I feel I've been cheated and this car should have been totaled and I given another car! now I cannot afford to get another car right now and I'm scared to drive it.
The brakes failed while driving my 2007mercedesbenz. 5th time. I leased a mbenz 2007 C230w from bill ussery mercedes January 2007. 2 weeks from purchase brought the car into service told them the car would shake vigorously when pressing on brakes to slow down from 40mph or more. Told nothing was wrong. 2months later brought car back and car was shaking when braking. Confirmed the shaking and brake rotors brake pads, brake discs were replaced, front suspension loose/tightened. This has occurred now on 5 separate occassions. Ongoing since February of 2007. I felt unsafe in the car. Called mbusa on 4 separate occasions beginning in October til now. Claim was filed and I never heard back. On may of 2008,my brakes did not work while traveling on the interstate. I went to slow down to exit,no brakes!car shook worse than ever!had the car towed into mercedes. I will not drive that car again!they refuse to replace the car. Once again stated they fixed my car,to pick it up or storage fees would be charged and car impounded. I refuse to drive a car that can injure or kill me or my son or someone else. The service records on this car clearly state all of the above. Mercedes benz refuses to accept responsibility blaming me as the cause for the rotors, brake pads and discs to be replaced 5 times in less than one year. They won't test drive the car on the interstate to simulate what happened to me, but they want me to come get the car and drive it?I am still without a car and I paid for this lease in full 2yrs. I will never drive it again. No one should have to drive it period!I have never had problems with Mercedes Benz and I love their cars, but this one in particular is defective. Please help me. Thanks.
Suspension system is faulty. Whenever weight exceeded 180 lbs. Or more in front passenger's side, the vehicle would shift to the right. While whenever weight exceeded 200 lbs. Or more, the vehicle rear end would appear to be dragging. Dealer notified and refused to acknowledge the problem.
