I have been notified about the safety air bag recall however, I have just found oil in my wiring harness. My car is idling very rough and stalling, the check engine light is on, I received 8 codes. I have oil in my camshaft wiring harness, my piston 1 fuel inject, spark plugs, and front of the engine where camshaft adjuster magnets are covered in black sludge oil. Another mercedes owner told me the same thing happened to his car and was "pigtailed" there has been a recall on this issue for this type of car 2005 C230 kompressor sport the recall number is #200910001. I would like for the Mercedes Benz dealership to resolve this issue, I need a government letter to be approved. May you please assist me with this request?.

The contact owns a 2002 Mercedes Benz c 230. The contact was driving 30 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility where the mechanic advised that the fuel pump wiring and several other wires were burned. The mechanic advised that if the fuel tank had been full of gasoline, the vehicle would have caught on fire. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer advised the failure was not considered a safety issue and would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 99,000.

This is a 2004 mercedes C230. Check engine light went on. I went to dealer within 15 miles of warning light coming on. I was told that there was an oil leak and that it had dripped over the wiring harness. It would cost $3,500 to repair. I have never missed a maintenance on this car. They said the this happens because of where the O2 sensor is located. This is a defect and design flow created by mb. They should do a recall to protect the wiring harness.

While driving on highway out of state at approx. 60mph car suddenly bucked and all power cut out, all lights on control panel lit up- hit clutch and gas, vehicle restarted. Nearest dealer would not see me for 2 weeks, dealer in another state did diagnostic estimated repair at close to $4,000; already gave over $1800 as downpayment toward parts. Repair ? scheduled for next week. Read other complaints, believe manufacturer should take some responsibility here, and want reassurance if repair does not work I will not be continuously charged while they replace everything until the get it right. Said computer did not read a defect. Car has been serviced by dealers only at every recommended service milestone.

I have had a number of electrical system failures with my 2000 model year C230k mercedes. These have mostly effected the cars safety systems which is a major concern to me. The first failure was a complete drain of the battery charge for no apparent reason and the battery was replaced. Shortly afterwards the sensors of the abs system failed and the transmission was then automatically locked in parking position after the next stop as a safety feature. More recently failures in the srs system have resulted in mercedes replacing sections of my steering column and the whole wiring harness in the car. I have just moved from the USA to belgium for a 2-3 year work assignment and the car is now in transit to belgium. I purchased the car new in the USA. I was very upset with the way mercedes handled my case and I started researching on the web to see if others had similar experiences. I believe there are a significant number of issues with these cars electrical system being posted by owners in various web sites. I have read reports of other owners having their battery explode. Another owner had a taillight assembly totally melt due to an electrical short. However the most significant and most recurring issues being posted are failures of the srs system similar to the failure my car suffered and these failures do not seem to be limited to a specific model. The most numerous failure being reported is a failure of an electric contact in the steering column which is part of the srs circuit. They are referred to as "contact rings". On my car these were replaced first as based on the technicians experience that is where they believed the problem existed. That didn't fix the issue for my specific car and after a lot messing 4 weeks later the total harness was replaced. For background the srs light came on continuously right before I had planned to ship the car to belgium. I was in belgium and dealt with both a dealership in baltimore and mercedes USA to get the issue fixed.
