1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 09/11/2025

-the steering wheel and brake locked up and became unusable while driving at approximately 75mph. Cruise control was enabled for a few miles (maybe 2) and disabled after. Around 5 minutes after disabling, the car began to surge between acceleration and deceleration drastically on its own. All of the dashboard lights that come on when the key is initially inserted came on at once while engine was on/running and the car was in drive. After finally being able to reach a safe enough spot, I put the car in park and turned the engine off. I sat for a few minutes to try and turn the engine/car back on and the car would not crank, but the overhead lights, radio, and dash lights were functioning. -this was an extremely dangerous experience. The car began to decelerate rapidly in heavy freeway traffic. At that speed, with many semi-trucks traveling nearby, this sudden loss of speed created an extremely dangerous situation. My vehicle instantly became a slow moving obstacle in the lane. Only by luck and quick reaction was a serious or fatal collision avoided. The car would not start back up so I was sitting at the edge of the highway as many cars flew by just inches away from my car. -I am away at college in a rural city. Accessibility is limited as well as support because of lack of resources. -the car was towed to a mechanic who does not specialize in german cars and stated they did not have the proper tools to "get into the car" because the motor is "locked up" and the car wouldn't crank. -the vehicle will be towed to the nearest dealership (50mi away) who stated they won't be able to look at it for a few weeks from date of arrival. Research indicates this may be linked to a known issue with electronic steering lock (esl) / electronic ignition switch (eis) failure in mercedes vehicles, which can electronically disable the engine and steering. This could've easily been fatal for me and still poses an alarming threat if not addressed.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

Driving on [xxx] to atlanta GA my car would not automatically shift and began to vibrate badly. I was almost hit by other vehicles as I pulled off the highway to check car out. Car was vibrating badly in idle and when I resumed my trip back home the car would not accelerate properly and caused tremendous stress and danger. Figured out that car would not shift automatically and I was forced to shift the car manually. Car would sputter and vibrate badly and would only slightly less vibrate to where I could drive it home in gear d5 and would less vibrate at 75+ mph very dangerous, and would lose power and shake violently going up highway hills. I prayed all the way home and barely made it shaken. I called my Mercedes Benz dealer from the highway and immediately scheduled appointment on 8/15/24. This was a major safety hazard and life threatening situation with my Mercedes Benz C250 2014 car. My car 100% serviced over the years at dealership I bought it from rick hendricks Mercedes Benz of lake norman nc. Thank you for your time! actor & model [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 01/20/2022

2012 C250 has a known defect with high pressure fuel pump. I personally have had an intermittent issue where vehicle will unpredictably stop working under heavy throttle and enter limp mode as the computer throws a fault code. This results in loss of power after the code making vehicle unpredictable and dangerous in passing situations. It leaves you stranded in the passing lane with oncoming traffic with a vehicle that will not accelerate. I have submitted a request multiple times with Mercedes Benz corporate who has declined my submission. This issue has been ongoing since 2016. They have offered an extended warranty on the vehicle 10 years and 120,000 miles as they know there is a defect. It is dangerous and needs to be covered for all of the affected vehicles.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 11/13/2021

When accelerating to pass a vehicle the check engine light comes on and there is loss power. When this happens there is a huge potential of a crash. The car has to be shut off to try and reset this. When you are on the frwy this puts life at danger. The code is a p002 and if you research it mercedes is aware of this and is most likely a defective high pressure fuel pump problem that needs replacing but there have been no recalls. I have looked it up on you tube and has been on ongoing issue with no recalls as of yet. I am taking my car to dealer on 11/15/2021 for this issue which they will charge me for even though its a safety issue.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 08/16/2021

I was trying to merge onto a freeway from a complete stop and because this freeway has an extremely short on-ramp, you need to get up to a high speed in very little time. As such, I put my car in sport driving mode and accelerated very hard from a complete stop. The car accelerated as normal for a few seconds (I reached approximately 40 to 50 mph), then I felt the car lag and felt a loss of power. The car was in limp mode and I couldn’t accelerate even though I was pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. A few seconds after this occurred, I notice that the check engine light turned on. I was able to maintain a speed around 50 mph and got off the freeway. I took my car to both the mercedes dealership and an independent mechanic and both diagnosed a failure of the high pressure fuel pump. I also tried to see if this will happen again and after hard acceleration in regular driving mode, the exact same issues occurred. I have read that there are issues with the high pressure fuel pump with my car model and I ask that you guys please investigate thoroughly to see if a recall would be necessary. Losing power while accelerating is extremely dangerous and a huge safety hazard for all drivers on the road. I could have easily been rear ended by another driver since I couldn’t accelerate to a faster speed. I have not yet replaced the high pressure fuel pump but plan to do so in the next few days. Attached is the diagnostic invoice from the mercedes dealership. As stated on the invoice, please note that my car only has 43,000 miles, which makes the high pressure fuel pump failure very surprising.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 01/29/2020

Whenever I accelerate engine light comes up and it turns into limp mode. This is a serious safety issue, alot of other people with the same vehicle as me are having same issues. This has happened more than 3 times, this is a error in high pressure fuel pump.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 10/22/2016

Intermittent "inoperable mode" illuminated since mileage 41974. Car decelerated on the highway from 75mph to 10mpl nearly causing an accident. Pulled over, turned off vehicle, was completely shaken up. Waited about 5 minutes, restarted and it was normal. This has happened 13 times in the 6 months of ownership. Dealer was unable to duplicate issue. Vehicle again duplicated the same problem, I made a left turn, attempted to accelerate on a city street and it began showing the "inoperable mode" and check engine light again. A month later, the engine was making a loud noise like rocks in a dryer. Pulled over immediately away from traffic. I contacted the dealer, they said to "drive it in". On the way, the car broke down. Called mercedes customer care, they sent a tow truck. Car is under warranty until 50k, and is at 49404. While my 2013 C250 is in the shop, they issued me a 2016 c300 with less than 550 miles on it. After driving for only 5 days, it also has the check engine light and says "collision prevention assist plus inoperative". I notified the service advisor and he will not return my messages to have another vehicle issued. This is clearly a manufacture defect that mercedes is blatantly ignoring. This is stressful and heartbreaking that I have owned the vehicle 6 months, with a mountain of "manufacturer warranty" issues, they are asking me to pay the $2500 if it is deemed "not warrantable". So I am supposed to trust mercedes to be honest at this point? the only contact I have received since is that they will be charging me $2595. 00 in labor to disassemble my engine so that they have a "concrete answer" as to if my vehicle will be warrantied. It is under warranty and all services have been done as mercedes advises. For mercedes to not warranty it would be a direct violation of the manufacturer warranty and further prove their negligence.

The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

Sluggish accellaration. This has happened several times during the last 2 months. It has happen on a take off from a red to a green light. Where I'm completely stopped and from 0 mph speed I start to accellarate & the car feels like it stalls, almost as if it's getting no fuel. I can have my foot totally down on the gas pedal & the car hesitates or doesn't move at all. I had an incident where I was behind a semi truck, I attempted to change lanes fast before incoming traffic. The car did not move & I almost got hit from behind because the car would not speed up when I tried to accellarate. I've had my best friend in the car while this took place & he was very scared & so was I. I'm not sure if the fuel injectors are pumping the gas fast enough to get the car moving. Then again, what do I know. I'm a girl. All I know is, something is wrong with this car & it's not safe to drive. This does not happen every time but it happens quite too often. I'm to the point now where I don't trust passing other cars and I'm extra cautious when having to pass cars or from lane to lane. I don't trust this car. I've contacted the dealership today & have an appointment to meet with max at the dealership in anaheim hills, CA. I'm hoping I can have an early termination of my lease or get into another car (hopefully a safe car).

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 01/25/2014

Was accelerating up hill after making right turn; check engine light came on, vehicle seemed to stall and would no longer accelerate in traffic situation; maximum speed vehicle would get to is 17 mph. Immediately took to dealer who ran diagnostics, but did not identify problem; performed computer "reset" and told to bring back if more problems. Several hours later, same issue returned with maximum speed of 7 mph; cel and multiple dash warning lights including traction control appeared. Vehicle was towed to dealer and dealer was notified of safety issue and potential for accident. After five days, dealer called and indicated had replaced throttle motor. Dealer requested to keep overnight and next morning engine would not start; found pull on battery. Approximately 4. 5 weeks later, original acceleration issue recurred - while passing a tractor trailer in a passing zone on two-lane highway; was unable to complete passing maneuver and had to fall back in behind tractor trailer just in time for an oncoming vehicle to pass in other direction, avoiding collision, but underscoring imminent safety threat of this vehicle. Vehicle was returned to dealer yet again and after more than one week, dealer indicated that fuel pump and injectors had been replaced per instruction from mb USA. Again requested to keep vehicle for additional testing; vehicle remains with dealer as of today. The acceleration issues with this vehicle present an imminent threat to safety of both driver and other vehicles.
