The contact owns a 2008 Mercedes Benz. The contact stated while at the car was attempting to wash her vehicle, she heard a popping noise coming from the vehicle, and saw smoke coming from the inside of the vehicle speakers and called the fire department and they did not see any damaged. The contact mention she took the vehicle to her residence and an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed her he did not see anything. The contact mention when she opened her trunk of the vehicle she noticed water in the rear lights of the vehicle. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.
The rear lights continue to fail - brake lights, stop lights, turn signals and backup lights fail repeatedly. The dashboard indicator announces lights are out and when I checked the bulbs are intact but and the lights come back on by jiggling the whole lighting housing. They go out again as soon a travel resumes.
