5 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2016

Steering lock ignition assembly. There were no signs or indications that something like this was going to occur. Thankfully I reached my destination, backed up in my yard and parked. I aproached my vehicle because I wanted to fill up for the remainder of the week, I unlocked my door, placed my key in the ignition switch, and nothing happened. The radio worked and also the interior lights. I took the key out and went to use the spare key, inserted it and while the door was opened the display told me to remove the key. This could present a very dangerous situation for a female with children in an unfamiliar setting. After reading up about the problem I see that I am not alone in my troubles. I think this malfunction should included in a recall because of the safety risks involved because it could occur at any time. Thankfully I was at home.

6 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2015

I bought this car 27 days ago. Friday night, I opened my garage door and got in. It would not turn on. After getting it inspected, I was given the news about the electronic ignition switch. After doing some research online, I was baffled by how many people with identical cars dished out thousands to pay for the repair from the dealership. What was most surprising is how it seems to happen at just about 80k miles, like clockwork. My car has 78k miles. This repair won't be covered by the bumper to bumper warranty that I had just spent thousands on. Why is there not a recall yet? this is an extremely common, consistent problem among these cars. I should not have to pay nearly $2,000 just because my car is at 80,000 miles.

14 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Inserted key into ignition switch. Able to turn key. But no ignition lights come on in any position of the key. Does not start. Problem appears to be intermittent, as after several tries it may function correctly with incremental ignition on settings and then starting. As this ignition switch also controls the steering lock, there exists the possibility of the steering becoming looked while the vehicle is in motion. Hence, a major safety issue exists! should steering become locked while vehicle is in motion (at any speed) the consequences are extremely dangerous!.
