Broke rear subframe while driving. Made it home discovered the left rear suspension is almost completely detached from the vehicle. Researched the problem and discovered it’s a known issue and a warranty extension has been provided for some vehicles including some models of my particular year and model but after contacting mercedes is seems mine is not.

The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes Benz C300. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shake without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a tire rotation; while there, the mechanic discovered severe corrosion on the vehicle's subframe and the contact was advised to no longer drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000. The VIN was not available.

During safety inspection on [xxx] subframe assembly was found to have a hole which failed the inspection. I paid $4300 to have it fixed on [xxx]. This I learnt later is a huge safety hazard and can result in fatal accidents- a class action lawsuit exists in europe and in us as well. This part is supposed to last the lifetime of the car. Degraded performance of the car may well be impacting other parts of the car now - I have a cracked windshield perhaps because of frame issues? mercedes needs to make sure parts used dont endanger drivers lives. I have a 2015 mercedes-benz C300 4matic got a letter from the company car had few recalls to address. Dropped the at mercedes-benz hampton va dealership on 12/06/2023 at 8:30 am est. After few hours got a call from the dealership that rear subframe of the has bad corrosion and because of the rust it got holes in it which is a bad safety risk. Risk is so great that it cant pass virginia state inspection. I did a good online research and found it is a common issue in mercedes-benz vehicles and the company issued safety recall on some years and models but not on all the affected vehicles. Like my car has the exact same safety issue rear subframe got rust from inside so it was hard to notice till it became unsafe to drive the car. The dealer is asking almost $5000. 00 to replace it. The mercedes-benz customer support center is unable to explain why some cars are covered with extended warranty offered by the factory and some doesn't for exact same issue. There are bunch of more people with same complaint but they don't know where to go.
While I was driving my 2012 mb C300 4matic sport sedan in Nov', 2023 with history of regular maintenance, noticed a pretty load knocking noise, shudder and drifting to left a bit when it brakes from the driver's rear side especially on the highways. I took it to our local mechanic who was horrified to report that the sub frame was broken and completely rotten out too specifically rust issue with the rear suspension-rear subframe. He gets other german cars like BMW & Audi even older and more miles in chicago but none have rusted so much as these mb c-class cars. Knowing the dealers wont accept it a manufacturing defect, he was planning to repair it (no chance of wielding that thin metal sheet as the likelihood of breaking it is high). I was surprised to see 2010 chevy impala having a much more robust under the cover protection and no rusting with 115k miles. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The rear subframe is cracked. This puts myself at risk and others if vehicle is involved in an accident. The problem has been confirmed by two independent service dealers. The vehicle has only been inspected by independent dealers. No warning lights.
As I was driving from work, I noticed that when I started using the brakes I starting hearing a metal sound coming from the back, the day after I looked down and realized a whole part from the sub frame was completely broken and the part is corroded.

My car has a rotten rear subframe and has holes in it and the dealer doesn't want to repair it and mercedes announced that it had a 20 year extended warranty. I'm from manchester, new hampshire. They inspected it and say they can't change it for free. The warranty doesn't cover it. I don't know what's going on. With that.
A rusted rear subframe is more prone to crack when a driver hits a pothole or wants to brake quickly, which can lead to instability in the vehicle's rear suspension.
My rear subframe has corroded and has snapped, which is a major safety issue as while driving when I come to a stop the rear end of the car swags sideways. It do not stop straight.
The subframe has rusted/fallen off. This is incredibly risky as the car cannot be driven safely and it happened without warning. My mechanic said it is not due to any driving incidents but through rust occurring on mercedes' subframes, which are flimsy. It has been inspected professionally by a mechanic. There are no warning lamps. This could kill someone on the highway as while braking the car veered left and right. I had small children in the car we all neck pain from the car veering while stopping on the highway. I have taken good care of my vehicle and have all maintenance current. This is a fault with the material on the subframe. For all the subframes are on backorder and are incredibly expensive to fix. I have a video of the damage from the mechanic if needed.
Excessive rust has caused a separation of the lower control arm from the rear sub frame. From google searches this appears to be a common safety defect in the manufacturing of these vehicles. Control arm separation causes drive ability and stability issues that can lead to loss of control of said vehicle leading to accidents that can cause serious bodily injuries including death. Why hasn't mercedes been forced to recall the affected vehicles in the united states as they have been in several other countries?.
Rear subframe corrodes and detaches from car. A class action lawsuit has been filed in georgia and California. This effects many mercedes models. Dealer stated the lawsuit extends to 08 models as well.
Rear subframe rust through, affecting the function of control arm. When braking mildly caused the forward motion of vehicle to swerve into oncoming traffic. It has been reported and is in their possession. There was a small clicking noise like a possible loose shock absorber, a few times in the past month. Then two days ago, the sound became stronger including a clicking noise like two pieces of sheet metal torn passing each other. Upon personal inspection I found severe rust through on the subframe on the left side in front of the left drivers side rear tire. Corporate has sent a letter extending the warranty for that part. Photos can be provided.
Rear control arm broke off of the rusted rear sub frame assembly which was confirmed and inspected by my mechanic.
Mercedes 2015 C300 crank case ventilation hose has a defect and it is well-known to the manufacturer. This causes recurring engine and exhaust problems for a large number of car owners, and it should be part of a recall.
The rear subframe rusted prematurely and broke off important mounts for the suspension and steering. I was driving and had to hard brake. This cause the back end of the car to swerve and almost lose control. I then heard a knocking sound when I pressed the brakes, prompting me to take it into the shop. There I was informed the the subframe was rusted and the vehicle wasn’t safe to drive. I filed a claim with my insurance, but they said it’s wear and tear.
Like apparently the majority of this model year C300, the rear subframe is completely disintegrated. This is a known issue but mercedes has not communicated it nor fixed it. I was told, and as the photos clearly indicate, this very likely could have resulted in a catastrophic or fatal accident as the entire rear is corroded. I have photo and video support as well as the inspection from a mechanic.
I found out about the mercedes subframe failure issue after having problems on the road, that could have killed me, and being warned not to drive anymore by an authorized repair shop because my vehicle was not safe for me to drive. This has caused many other issues with my cars mechanics due to this defect from the mercedes factory.
I was driving on the freeway and had to hard brake due to unexpected stopped traffic. When I braked the vehicle veered hard to the left and almost lost complete control of the car and nearly caused a serious accident. I drove immediately to a local mb dealer and they confirmed what I was afraid and suspected which was the right rear subframe needs replaced. This car was recently sold to me by a dealer less than a month ago and not a single warning light or indicator warning me of this issue. The repair is over 7500 and the shop highly recommended I no longer drive until it’s replaced. This problem is very common and mb actually covers the cost in europe and canada.
Car slow down and stop and cannot start in traffic….
Car wouldn't pass inspection because of a rotted subframe. I had to pay $3k to have it replaced.
The left rear weld of the subframe on my 2012 C300 4matic has rotted through and appears to be a manufacture's part defect. I found out about this issue from a brake inspection and told it is a safety concern, which Mercedes Benzes is aware of but has no recalls for the defect.
My vehicle has been making very odd noises, the steering wheel keeps looking off center and the car is kicking/fishtailing at times without warning. Our mechanic has looked at the car several times and finally discovered that the sub frame is completely rusted out and broken. We were told not to drive the vehicle anymore as it is extremely dangerous. After researching about this issue, we found that a class action lawsuit was filed in February 2023 for corrosion/rusting out of frames in 2010-2022 Mercedes Benz models. According to the information, mercedes is refusing to cover the cost of the repairs and is not returning calls from customers effected by this issue. This information has been reported and added to the class action lawsuit. It was recommended that we report it here as well.
Rusted rear sub frame that needs to be replaced. Premature rusting that mercedes needs to repair at no cost. Also, premature battery drain on new battery. Needs to be fixed by mercedes at no cost.

Car was garage kept and in mint condition, yet the rear subframe has completely rusted through and while breaking the car lurches to the right. Also the breaking performance is noticeably impaired. There was no signs of this failure as the car still looks new, only way of knowing was the near crash while driving and trying to stop.
The contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz C300. The contact stated that approximately every 6-8 months, the vehicle sputtered while driving at various speeds or while idling. The contact stated that a month after the first failure had occurred, the front end of the vehicle lowered as if the shocks or hydraulic system had failed. The failure had occurred 3 times within a year and a half. The contact stated that after the second failure, the entire vehicle lowered several inches, and at the third failure, only the front end of the vehicle was lowered. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the hydraulic pump and the connections from the shocks to the hydraulic pump had failed. The failure reoccurred approximately 8 months later. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who diagnosed the same failure and completed the same repairs. The failure reoccurred approximately 8 months later, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer provided the contact with a loaner while attempting to have the contact trade the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. The VIN was not available.
I was driving in the highway 50 mph and I was braking and my car slipped in the other line of the highway and almost had and accident !!!! and cars switched off when driving almost had incident!!!! I saw that many people have the say problem like me about rusted component please do something because people are losing their lifes.
The contact owns a 2013 mercedes-benz C300. The contact stated while driving at high speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the rear suspension was unstable and felt loose. The contact pulled to the side of the road before continuing to drive. The contact notified an independent mechanic of the failure and was informed that the rear subframe needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was notified of the failure through voicemail. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure was approximately 80,000.
Rear tires were down to steel belt after replacing August 1, 2022 and less than 10,000 mile wear. I took the car to a dealership for diagnosis. The rear subframe is completely corroded and failed causing extreme wear on tires and a dangerous driving scenario. I’ve researched and see this is a common problem on these mercedes cars. Why is there no mercedes recall or accountability for this common issue?this is a serious issue that could cause serious accidents and bodily harm or death. .
