Mercedes Benz C300 owners have reported 33 problems related to wheel (under the wheel category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mercedes Benz C300 based on all problems reported for the C300.
Rear brakes backing plates rotted prematurely despite garage kept and well maintained status. While driving, noticed loud scraping and grinding noises from the rear left wheel. Took to mechanic and he found severe rust, with deep corrosion and flaking "rotted". He said I was lucky because this was very close to causing the entire brake assembly to fail, which would lead to serious braking problems or "locked out wheel" and loss of control on a highway which would have put me and others at risk. Had similar rust issues with this car that were fixed in the recent past including rusted brake lines and rusted rear subframe. There is definitely something wrong with the manufacturing as the rear subframe had been recalled and got it fixed that way less than a year ago.

My 2012 C300 has a rotted rear subframe making the car not able to be driven. It has major ,life threatening, costly damage and this issue already has a recall all over the world but not in the united states. If I can get the assistance to pay this repair, it will be gladly appreciated.

I bought this car for my 18 year old son based on mercedes reputation for safety and longevity, only to discover that mercedes has a widely acknowledged issue with rotted sub-frames -- it's a serious safety issue and recalled in other countries. My son was was driving on the highway and the tire exploded. He was so close to being killed because the car went out of control. After getting it towed to my mechanic, he advised me that alignment adjusters were stuck, the subframe was rotted, the lower control arm subframe mounts were broken from the subframe and they were hitting the gas tank. Luckily, the tire only exploded as oppose to the entire vehicle bursting in flames. There were no warning lights or messages, only the feeling that the tires needed to be aligned. We bought new tires and were told an alignment was done from town fair tires, which was untrue. My son's life was in immediate danger. Shame on mercedes for not recalling this subframe. This is the first of many avenues I am taking to have this rectified and hopefully prevent a tragedy.

I needed new tires and the tire dealer reported that my subframe is rotted bilaterally. He suggested I do not invest in tires until it is replaced and to notify mercedes as there may be a recall. This defect caused instability of the frame that secures the tires. The safety risk should go without saying. Any rotted structure that supports the car and/or secures the tires is an obvious safety risk. After reading the multiple complaints posted under “structure” for this make and model, it appears that yes, this problem has been reproduced and confirmed by other owners and mechanics. I am presently picking up my car from the tire dealer and driving it directly to the mercedes dealership…so they will be aware and able to inspect it. There were no warnings or alerts that my subframe rotted. I do not believe this is something that could be measured with a sensor to trigger an alert electronically.

The rear subframe is rusted and broken, alignment is out, and steering wheel is off centered. Given the history of this model car, it has been under recall in multiple countries outside the united states. This is a common and very dangerous issue that needs to be addressed in the united states because if you call any auto shop or mercedes they all say it is a common problem with 2008-2014 c-class models. When you look up this issue with this car it has multiple threads saying that the rear subframe has rusted and broke when it is not supposed to.
Headlight is out and there is no replacement; dealer says they are having significant issues with headlamps. Also, tire safety monitoring system is always on, even though there is a proper air pressure amount.

I noticed that my car was pulling heavy to the left when I stop and strange noise in the rear of the car, after taking the car to the mechanic he told me that the car rear subframe on my 2013 Mercedes Benz C300 was rotted, the control arm bracket completely broke off on the left side and the right side is also cracked. It appears that this is a common issue in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months, the dealer told me that the car has a rotted rear subframe problem and the subframe could break out in months.
Sudden steering pull when braking . Mechanic found rotten left rear suspension cross member . Part number 2043500141 mechanic reports very common issue with this model . Mercedes benz is aware but will not repair or supply replacement parts . Note the replacement part is not available in us currently . Stuck with unsafe auto lacking support from Mercedes Benz . Some one is going to be injured / killed as the manufacturing defect shows rust failure from inside out and not detectable during routine maintenance . Hard braking pull is first indication that the defective part failed . Should this occur at highway speed the auto can flip resulting in major injury or death .
The wheel is not tilting up or down. It's stuck I. Top. It will just go out and in but stuck in the top position. This is a safety issue especially with airbags. The problem have been reported to dealers . It's a defective system.

While driving at low speed, there was a sudden imbalance in the steering wheel and the car started to pull to the right. The problem was more exaggerated while breaking with significant fishtailing. I immediately took the vehicle to mercedes-benz dealership who diagnosed the problem as severely rusted subframe with corrosion and structural instability especially near the rear passenger side wheel. The car is mercedes C300 4matic 2013. The incident happened on November 24, 2021. Mileage is 77,000 miles. Should I have waited longer, there was a very high probability of complete breakdown of the subframe which would result in rollover posing high risk of injury and death to the driver and other people on the road.
The subframe rotted out causing the lower control arm bracket to detach from the frame. This has caused loss of control of the back left wheel and causes the car to shake and swerve when braking. This exact issue has led to recall in canada. First noticed due to a squeaking and clunking sound. Later on the same day, I pressed the brakes on the highway and felt the described shaking/swerving. My mechanic has let me know that the car is now un-drivable due to the safety issue this causes. One of the rear subframe’s main purposes is to absorb and disperse impact. Not only have I entirely lost control of the rear left, but any crash that this could have led to could have been significantly more dangerous due to the failed subframe. As stated prior, this exact issue has led to recall in canada and I believe that it should lead to recall in the USA as well.
There wasn’t any warning lamps prior to my rear right tire exploding on highway.

Noticed a bulge on the front drivers side tire, on the side wall. A couple of weeks later, with minimal driving, rubber on side wall opened up where bulge was at. According to a recall on other model tires, "tires that are over-cured may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash". This is pretty much what was going on with mine. Taking back to dealership Friday to be replaced.

Every time I start my car it smells like gas and it's so strong to the point where it gives me headaches. Also I was on the freeway and the roads were wet from previous rain and I almost died and hydroplaned on the freeway. Even if it's a small bit of rain my car starts shaking as if I don't have control. I do not feel safe in this car and I just got the car a month ago.
I was driving then the started been hard now it's saying power steering malfunction.

Suspension parts are rusting out fast I don't live in a salted road for black ice type of environment car only has 66k miles and ac pours fuel odors in the cabin interior materials are bubbling up fast even after uv treatments.
On two occasions, with the latest being on 12/11/2018, the vehicle's steering wheel locked completely after I parked it. Even though it's been subject to a recall (2010100002), Mercedes Benz charged me $1255 just to unlock it without repairing the underlying cause. I want my money back because the problem they repaired is part of the recall.
Goodyear assurance comfortred 225/45r17 defective. Several cracks on sidewall of all 4 tires. Front tires with 16,458 miles and rear tires at 25,000 miles. Lf tread 8/32 rf 9/32. Rear: 6/32 and 8/32. I forwarded pictures to goodyear and filed a complaint 11/30/2018.

Back driver side seat belt hard to engage and will come unengaged without prompting. Brake pads wear out every 30,000 miles back passenger side tire and valve has been replaced 4 times in less than 70,000 miles and still looses air intermittently. Car can be parked or moving. No consistency in when or amount air pressure is lost.
Why didn't the dealer tell me this when I purchased the car? according to. . Read more...
I was driving 580-e and merging onto I-5 s when I hit a humongous pot hole with my left font tire causing it to immediately blow out. That in-turn caused my stability tracking to engage, which caused me to slow down drastically. That caused another vehicle to near miss ramming me in the back and me side swiping another vehicle. I was driving approximately 70 mph and almost lost control of the vehicle and had to immediately pull over to a very narrow shoulder of the road with my emergency flashers blinking. To ensure the safety of the vehicle, my self and other passengers in the car, I had to drive approximately 0. 5 miles to the next exit (67) to safely get my vehicle off the road to a safe location. I then called a tow truck to tow my vehicle back to santa rosa where I live to get the tire replaced and front bump repaired. I am unsure of the cause of the unsafe condition of the highway or what caused the pot hole. There were several cars stranded with damages to their vehicles as well. One person came to the same exit (food mart on patterson road) with a blown out tire as well. I have her contact information if you need to contact her.
I heard a very big devastating noise while driving my 2015 Mercedes Benz-c300 on a local road in raleigh, nc at about 40 mph. Since I did not see any tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) or any other kind of alert on the screen, I continued to drive. After driving about 2 more miles, I heard another big pop and the car became non-drivable by then. I did not feel hitting any object or going thru a pot hole. That¿s when I got down the car and noticed the right front tire outer wall got separated from the tire and the the tire was just flat to the ground. I could not, of course, drive further. This happened on Saturday (10/1/16) evening and it is a run-flat tire, but could not drive further and there was no spare in the car. So, I had to wait until today (10/3/16) to get it towed to the nearest benz dealer in raleigh to get the tire replaced. It was a very frustrating half a day attending to this repair. There are a couple of issues here. (a) quality issue: why the continental tire tire gave away so quickly with only about 23. 5k miles on the odometer, without hitting any object? (b) safety issue: this would have been a disaster if I were on a road trip with family on a national highway, especially, on a Saturday evening without a spare tire. (c). System response issue: why mb system did not give any kind of alert in spite this major blow-out? I would hesitate to buy another car without a spare tire. I hope the NHTSA will consider seriously discouraging run-flat tires in the cars unless a spare tire is provided, until such time the run-flats are extremely safe and sturdy. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2009 mercedes-benz C300. While the vehicle was stationary, the tire pressure monitor (tpm) indicator illuminated. Helms brother mercedes-benz in flushing, new york replaced all four tpm sensors and all four tires, but the failure recurred. In addition, water entered into the rear passenger seat. The source of the leak could not be determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The mandatory required tire pressure motoring system (because it has run flat tires) on one of the wheels failed and they claimed this is not covered by either the manufacturer's warranty or the tire protection warrantee. I was told this on 6/15 2015 but the original complaint I made about air pressure int he left rear tire was well within the warrantee period.
My vehicle was damaged by k and h auto. The electrical unit is malfunctioning, the light is broken on the right side, and the rotors and brakes have been rusted, please have someone attend to this matter. Thanks, and have a very blessed day. Another company by the name of ans towing, towed my vehicle without care and I am now having acceleration issues with my vehicle. The vehicle was dragged through water on October 17-18, 2018.
Issues associated with takata air bag has not been addressed.
Vibration at high speed around 70 m/h. Vibration during warm up after a cold start. Noise coming out from unknown parts possibly suspension when running over bumps at low speed around 7 m/h.
Cpsc: i1470034. 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. Consumer stated while driving on the highway the car wheels locked and the car went to a full stop from 45 to 0 in very few seconds.
Original tires with 29000 miles. . . . . . . . Continental tire left front shredded on freeway, total seperation of rubber from rim, contacted continental ceo dr. Jochen etzel, was referred to customer and then to warranty and property damage, filed a claim which was rejected after 4 months because I didn't provied the shreeded tire. Continental refuses to take any responsibility for their product virtually disintegrating without warning. This is totall unacceptable, I have replaced all four continental tires and will never purchase any continental product again.
I have a Mercedes Benz C300 with 16,300 miles on it. The vehicle came with continental, contipro, 225/45 r17 91h tires on it two tires on the left side of the car have developed bubbles on them and will have to be replaced. The tires on the right side will have to be inspected since they may have bubbles on the inside. I have just read many complains about these tires and feel they are dangerous and should be recalled.
Takata recall -- I have been receiving recall notices from Mercedes Benz corporate in atlanta, GA, for years. Every time I take my vehicle to the dealership for service, the replacement airbags are not available. I have been tossing the old letters when I receive a new one (the latest one is date April, 2016). This has been a serious concern of mine; in that, I am the primary driver of this vehicle and the airbag problem is on the driver's side. I am disabled and have serious problems from radiation/chemo on my left upper side (stage 3 breast cancer). My ribs break very easily and have (on one occasion broken from severe bronchitis). I have not felt safe in this vehicle since receiving these letters. I now have have severe burns (2nd and 3rd degree) on my left hand and arm. I am almost afraid to drive my car. I am a very careful driver, but when you live in the mountains and medical care can be four mountains (driving time 1 hour, 50 minutes) away, you are exposed to many hairpin turns and the possibility of wildlife running into the road. You never know what is around each corner. I do not drive at night, so the "headlight warning" would not be seen for me. I have never received any projection dates as to when this replacement would be available. I have contacted the dealer (three of them) listed on website and none are able to help me. I do not want to fear driving a vehicle that costs (fully loaded with more upgrades) $47,000. 00. That is a lot of money to feel unsafe. Also, my tire pressure light comes on constantly. I have had this checked repeatedly and replaced tires, as necessary. Mostly the tire pressure light comes on when it is cold outside. I live in monterey, va, in the mountains. It is cold here for about 6 months or more. Please help, debbie recall # 201602003.
