Total shutdown of complete system…brakes, steering and engine at around 25-to 30 mph. No warning. Happened two times…once before m-b service and once after service for problem. It checked out ok from dealership months before only to have it happen again. Was lucky to avoid a crash both times. Sold to dealership. Wrote my safety concerns for a new owner to local dealership and corporate.

When I put the key in the ignition it will not turn over no lights display on the dashboard. The radio cuts on and the only thing that displays on the dashboard is the mileage no other lights. When the key is turned to first or second position. The day before when my car would not start I was able to take the key out of the ignition and replace it in the car started right up this time it does nothing. I'm being told it's an esl steering wheel lock issue that is common to this car model.
My car has a strong oder of gas. Is it safe to even drive to a shop? have there been other complaints similar to mine?.

Balance shaft engine issues, stretched timing chain, balance shaft sprockets. There was a class action lawsuit about this that no one made us aware of and the repairs had to be completed by may 13, 2015 to be part of the class action. Now, because we drove it so few miles in the past, the issues have just appeared. We have just 76,000 miles on it and were told that they would have to take the engine apart to replace the camshaft bearings because they have worn due to the other issues. Along with that we needed a new head and gasket and camshaft solenoids. This is estimated to cost us $10,000. 00. We of course aren't going to do the repairs now. There should have been a recall on this so people like us that don't drive a lot of miles don't get ripped off. This is a mercedes that should have easily run for over 200,000 miles. Now it's junk.

While driving, the car loses throttle and the engine does not function at all. The following error shows on the dash: "inoperative see operator's manual". When this happens, your only choice is to coast to a safe place. After restarting the car, it will function for a short time, only to reoccur. This obviously can be deadly if you cannot get off the highway before the car comes to a stop. This has happened at various speeds.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz C350. While driving 65 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. Multiple warning indicators illuminated. After the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it operated correctly. The vehicle was taken to fred martin of youngstown (4701 mahoning Ave, austintown, OH 44515, (330) 793-2444) where the contact was unaware of the diagnosis; however, he was informed that some of the wiring was cleaned. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred a year later and an appointment was scheduled with the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the dealer to contact them with the diagnostic results. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000. The VIN was not available.
Stationary vehicle no start, no crank without warning while parked on a city street. Failure within the electronic steering lock. Vehicle will not recognize the drivers key. Driver and passengers left dangerously stranded where ever the vehicle is parked when the failure occurs. This failure makes it unable to shift the vehicle into neutral position for towing.
Car was parked in a parking lot. I was 120 miles from home when the engine would not start -- even though the battery, lights, stereo, gauges, etc. All worked fine. Still, the engine wouldn't even crank, had car towed to an independent mercedes repair facility (it was a Sunday and the local mercedes service department was not open). The electronic ignition switch (eis) and other parts needed to be replaced at a cost of $1526. 94. Months later I visited the NHTSA website and learned that this is a common problem with this model of mercedes and that the manufacturer is refusing to pay for the repair. With a problem this widespread -- which can occur multiple times during the life of the car -- mercedes should foot the bill. I would have complained earlier but only now learned that many other owners are experiencing the same defect. My car had only 37,110 miles at the time. I should be reimbursed my mercedes.
2009 Mercedes Benz C350 - steering wheel lock / $1400 to repair and replace the module. Common issue with the c-class.
When to get my car waxed for the weekend. Got home parked the car and when my wife and I were ready to go out the car wouldn't start. Dash lights, radio, ect were working but the ignition wouldn't start. I can hear clicks from the engine n the steering was locked. Bag ignition steering lock. $1,900 to fix haven't been able to move the car until I come up with the money to fix it! common issue from all 2008 & 2009 mercedes w204 c class! & no recall.
I have a 2008 C350 with 81,300 miles. I drove the car home from school Thursday parked it in my parking garage went out this morning and it wouldn't start. The key locks and unlocks the doors the lights come on and the dash lights up. You can insert and turn the key but the car will not start. The steering wheel is locked and the drive is locked in park. I tried jumping and it did nothing I didn't think the battery was bad but went and had it checked anyways. The battery being changed. I check the fuses that are associated with the starter and they seem to be ok. I'm not sure what to do next and not excited about having it towed to the dealership. Any information would be helpful.
