Body Problems of Mercedes Benz CLK320

About 3 years ago, the passenger side of my door started randomly swinging open while I was driving. It was extremely dangerous and almost caused a serious accident the first time it happened. I spent over $1000 to get it fixed. Now, I am 7 months pregnant and it is happening again to the drivers side door. I cannot even drive the car now, because it doesn’t latch at all when I shut the door. I have to figure out a way to keep it shut so I can take it to get fixed again. It was completely unwarranted both times, almost causing serious accidents. I have seen blog posts online of this same incident happening with the same car. This needs to be recalled immediately, and drivers shouldn’t have to pay top dollar (or their life) to fix an issue mercedes bad door locking mechanism created.

My 2003 Mercedes Benz clk 320 that I have owned for less than 1 year caught on fire on June 9, 2017. The engine is melted and destroyed luckily no one was injured despite it happened around a busy area. I am completely in shock still, not knowing what actually happened until I came across a website stating that other Mercedes Benz models have had their engines catch on fire due to trying to start the vehicle more than once in consecutive attempts. (while reading that last paragraph, I do recall trying to do just that since the car decided to stall on me). I remember I was waiting at an intersection to make a turn into a u. S. Post office parking lot area. However, before I could even make the turn, it stalled on me in the intersection. I immediately tried to start it as people began honking their horns at me without any luck. On the second consecutive try I got the car started and drove and parked in the parking lot. I did not give a thought of why the mercedes gave me starting problems just a minute ago as I grabbed my purse and headed to the post office. While I got in line,I started to hear people yell about a fire-a car fire. We all went outside to see this and as I got a good look at it, I realized that was my car on fire. I called 911 while I was shaking.

There is too much rust on the vehicle! car has never been in any accidents & has been washed & waxed regularly. Supposedly this is a very common issue with these cars which is disappointing. This poses a safety issue as if the vehicle is involved in a collision, the structural integrity is highly diminished due to the corrosion. What is even more scary is that the corrosion starts from the inside out so you will not be able to see the damage until it is too late. Mb USA: please assist/help & back your products up!.

I was backing out of a parking space when my passenger side control arm broke. The front passenger side wheel splayed out and bent the fender. I had the car towed to a garage that was very nearby. The mechanic noted that the control arm was hollow and seemed to be rusting. He was able to detect that the driver side control arm had a similar problem in the making and that the stabilizer bar had stress crack. All were replaced over the next few weeks while I was on vacation. The total cost was slightly under $2900. It was a bit scary and I was certainly glad that I was not driving fast when this cataclysmic failure occurred. I thought that mercedes should hear about the problem and when I returned from vacation, called my dealer who had done all of the mechanical service and repairs on the car since it was bought. They were having phone and e-mail communication problems and did not call back for quite a while. They suggested that I let mbusa know about my concern. I immediately e-mailed mbusa. They took until recently to reply. They tell me that there is no current service campaign and that the government has not initiated a recall on the problem. I have pictures documenting the problem and some of the parts if anyone wants to inspect them. I am fine and do not need any reimbursement. But, I worry that some poor fellow is going to have the same problem at 55 mph and not live to write to you about this dangerous problem. Hopefully my problem is either a one time event or if it is endemic or a design flaw, somebody will get out ahead of this problem before someone suffers. Mercedes benz 1999 Clk320: the outside mirror on the driver's door has turned so dark, it is virtually black and the driver cannot see anything in it. This inability to see in this exterior side-view mirror is extremely dangerous. It probably is caused by changes in the coating that is supposed to either heat the mirror or dim it.
