Automatic Transmission Problems of Mercedes Benz CLK350

The contact owns a 2006 Mercedes Benz Clk350. The contact stated that the vehicle reduced in speed when the accelerator pedal was applied. The contact mentioned that the accelerator pedal had to be depressed numerous times in order to accelerate, which responded intermittently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle in order to reset the computer. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on several occasions where the failure was unable to be replicated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the transmission valve housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Driving home on freeway at night, car shifted unexpectedly at high speed. Check engine light immediately came on. Came to stop exiting off freeway and car would not move, turned off and turned back on engine was able to limp home with check engine light still on. Towed to mercedes and was told it was a "defective" speed sensor also was told this malfunctioning sensor could not be replaced in and of itself and that the whole valve body would have to be replaced at a cost of $2200 for a 2006 car with 58,000 miles on it.
