Brake Light Problems of Mercedes Benz Clk Class

Mercedes Benz Clk Class owners have reported 2 problems related to brake light (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Light problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz Clk Class

Failure Date: 03/07/2014

The brake light on the trunk simply fell off. I have searched the internet and have found that there are at least 50 other owners that have experienced the same problem. This does not include those that simply just went ahead and got it fixed without posting it. This is a defect where the red lens separates from the light housing and the brake light no longer shows red when braking. I also understand that this continues to re-occur each time it is replaced at a cost of $352. 50 each time, not to mention the safety issue when all of a sudden while driving you loose your brake light. Mercedes benz is apparently sticking their heads in the sand over this one.

2 Brake Light problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz Clk Class

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

Bought the car in oct. Of 2013. Third brake warning comes on from time to time. Have checked my brake lights with someone pushing the brake pedal while I observed more than once and they work fine. Two of my CO-workers have told me recently while following me that my third brake light does not always work. I know there is a brake light issue that is being recalled on a different mercedes model and year. Was thinking that my vehicle might have the same issue.
