Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2007 Mercedes Benz E320. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I took my 2007 Mercedes Benz blutech to the dealer for the once a year "b" service. While they were doing the service, they noticed diesel fuel leaking behind the left rear tire. I had them perform an inspection for $135 and they determined that fuel was leaking out of the left fuel level sender area with no visual damage. They recommended replacing left tank seal and inspecting tank and sensor for cracks for $368. Before having the work performed , I went on the internet and found others having the same problem with their mercedes with NHTSA action #pe12001. We had no fuel smell or any indications there was a leak. I feel this is a serious defect and Mercedes Benz should recall these vehicles before someone gets killed.
Gas tank is leaking fuel on the ground under the rear left floor in front of the rear left wheel. There was an NHTSA recall campaign for all e class models 2003 > 2009, which our car is part of. This is a well known and documented issue. However mercedes says the campaign does not include our diesel powered cdi bluetec model. We are afraid this is a safety issue . . . It has been going on for a long time and is getting worse and worse.
