1 Power Train problem of the 2007 Mercedes Benz E320

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

Highway driving, cruise control set. Cruise control beeped, disengaged. Car continued to drive normally until I had to stop for a light. When light changed to green, the car would barely move - had no power, even though the rpms showed the engine running. Fortunately, I was near a gas station and was able to get off the road. This could have been very hazardous had it occurred in heavy traffic. . . . I pulled off the road, restarted the car and everything seemed to be fine. But this car basically left me sitting in the middle of the road and could have caused a serious accident if someone had been approaching me from the rear, or it was in the intersection at the time.

2 Power Train problem of the 2004 Mercedes Benz E320

Failure Date: 04/03/2018

The shifter module is defective because after starting the engine, when in drive, it stays in 2nd gear only. To put the car in reverse, I must shut the engine. Otherwise I can't shift from d to n to r. The shifter will not move past neutral. To get to p or r, I must shut the engine. This is unsafe when trying to back into a city street parking. When the car is stationary, after starting it, once I shift from p to r & arrive at n, the shifter will not allow me to shift back into r without shutting the engine & then restarting it.

8 Power Train problem of the 2003 Mercedes Benz E320

Failure Date: 04/02/2013

Car is used only for work and mostly highway driving for appointments. At 70,000 miles the transmission went out on the E320. An investigation reveled that a valve had failed in the radiator causing coolant from the engine to mix in with the transmission fluid which in turn burnt out parts in the transmission. Also there is hesitation when stepping on the gas pedal the car sometimes sputters to shut off when stopping.

9 Power Train problem of the 2004 Mercedes Benz E320

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

Driving south on i95 near savannah the dash lights including the brake light lit up on the dashboard and the vehicle began decelerating. Applied the emergency brake and was able to drive the vehicle to the shoulder. After the engine was shut off the vehicle could be started but could not get from park into a gear or even neutral. All four wheels were frozen and so getting the car on to the tow truck was almost impossible. Were towed to the nearest mercedes dealership where the sbc system was replaced. This took over night as the part was not available at the dealership. Besides being greatly inconvenienced - we had to spend a night in a hotel, we could have been killed if this would have occurred at night. The car was serviced by mercedes since purchase new in 2004. The part should have been identified during a service call, this obviously was a recall that was kept quiet. Not informing the owners of this potentially deadly issues is a major negligence on mercedes part.

10 Power Train problem of the 1994 Mercedes Benz E320

Failure Date: 08/10/2012

Due to the defective wiring harness known to exist on many Mercedes Benz vehicles made from 1990 on, I have the excessive expense of repairing and replacing expensive parts (the engine wiring harness) in this vehicle that failed prematurely due to faulty wiring insulation. The wiring insulation is inefficient and was corrected on later models, but considering that it is a poor design on mercedes part, I believe that the consumer should not be held responsible for the wiring issue. These cars do justify their price if maintained properly, and my vehicle is older and aside from the wiring harness, is in good running order; yet me, as a customer who pays the price to maintain my vehicle, I do not feel that it is justified that mercedes originally included in the vehicle price the cost of a supposed quality wiring harness, yet when it fails due to a design flaw, the consumer pays the price to have it replaced with what should have originally been installed. It is understandable that in the recent rough economy that an auto manufacturer would not want to take responsibility for a major design flaw that could result in millions lost, and attempt to maximize profits on the flaw by charging customers for the updated harness, but I feel that it is a major safety hazard in the affected vehicles and should be sorted out for drivers of all vehicles with the faulty harness free of charge on a safety basis, if it has jeopardized the life of the driver, then it should be replaced free of charge (surely that is the least that could be done). My car had a short today in the wiring harness and it caused unintended surge of acceleration when I pulled up to a curb and the car jumped over the curb and broke off a big plastic piece of the bumper. I ask myself what would have happened if I was at a busy intersection and this happened?.

12 Power Train problem of the 2003 Mercedes Benz E320

Failure Date: 03/11/2008

My 2003 mercedes E320 had less than 40,000 miles when the the transmission and struts started to present problems. The dealer was able to make repairs under warranty. Now at 78,000 miles, I'm being told that I need to replace the parking prawns due a leak in the back of the transmission. The bushing on the left side also needs to be replaced. I just had a bushing replaced about 6 months ago, which was a bit pricey. When they replaced one of the bushings under warranty a few years ago, they should have replaced all of them. I have encountered numerous with this car. I purchased it with only 37 miles on it in September 2003, but replacement of a number of parts while under warranty now leads me to believe that this car was a lemon from the beginning. Is it normal to have the air pump replaced at 73,000 miles? again, that was a pricey repair -- $1100. 00.

13 Power Train problem of the 2005 Mercedes Benz E320

From a stop the car would not accelerate beyond an idle, despite depressing the accelerator. It happened once on the highway after a tollbooth and almost caused an accident while merging. It also happened in the neighborhood after a stop sign. Problem is intermittent. Dealer could not duplicate problem and did not make any repairs.
