Seat Belt problem #1

My father and mother were driving back home on the evening of 1/29/25 when all of a sudden they heard a loud pop/explosion and their seat belts tightened. They were traveling at a speed of approximately 35 mph on local roads. There was no accident, collision, or warning signs, but the driver's side airbags, left side of the car, deployed. The message on the odometer said srs restraint system malfunction. The car is a 2006 mercedes E500 with 58,900 miles having one owner and all maintenance performed on time. This is a high safety concern as it could have caused a severe accident and if the front airbags had deployed erroneously, this could have injured my elderly parents. I put a call into mercedes corporate on 1/31/25 at 9:30 am but so far they do not appear to be taking this issue seriously. When my father contacted his local mercedes dealer, they too do not want too deal with the issue.

Seat Belt problem #2

Tl the contact owns a 2004 Mercedes Benz E500. The contact stated that after releasing the driver's seat, the seat belt warning light illuminated with an audible chime. The contact also stated that rear passenger's seat belt failed latch securely in the buckle. Additionally, the center seat belt tongue ceased in the buckle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 03v534000 (seat belts). The failure mileage was 166,000.

Seat Belt problem #4

I am referencing a Mercedes Benz service bulletin p-b-91. 60/99e. The control cluster shows srs light being illuminated. I took my car into a mercedes dealer and paid to have care analyzed. The mechanic indicated my car has the following fault codes: dtc 9103 (the resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component r12/13 is too high) and dtc 9123 (the resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component r12/14 is too high). Both pertaining to a faulty scm harness located on the steering column. I was told this is dangerous and that in the event of a crash, my airbags will not deploy. I am concerned that if mbusa knows that this is an issue and has even gone so far as to make a service kit to repair harness, why are they not responsible to repair this, especially given the extreme danger this is posing? I have looked into the cost of the parts, retail and for around $100 to purchase. The dealer wants over $700 for labor alone, plus another $250 for parts. This is supposed to be the safest car company in the world and I would think that this would be something they would want to address quickly. For the amount of money I paid for this vehicle, I believe I should be able to trust that it will protect me in the event of a crash. I am very afraid to even drive this vehicle.
