Nine problems related to other fuel system have been reported for the 2007 Mercedes Benz E63. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I filled up the gas, took a short drive home, and parked in the garage. Next day, there is a strong gasoline smell in the garage as well as inside the car. This happened whenever I filled up the gas since then.
Strong fuel smell after fill up for over a year. Was brought to mercedes with no fix. Recent inspection resulted in finding a puddle of fuel under the rear seat on the fuel sending unit. Further research shows this is a ongoing problem for other e-class and has been reported to NHTSA, and current fixes if any has been failing and even owners having to pay out of pocket for something mercedes should be fixing under warranty due to this serious potential safety and fire issue. I have two toddlers who sit in this car everyday.
After filling the cas up with gasoline, there is a strong odor of gas in the cabin to the point where the windows have to be open to drive.
Filled auto with fuel for first time and drove home, parked in the garage and started to smell gas fumes from driver's side passenger seat area. Learned that there is NHTSA action number: pe12001 pertaining to e55 which was previous year model to mine. Threat of fire under where my chiild sits is unacceptable. My early model E63 with same fuel issues should be covered. Please cover this model and model year as well!.
Filled my car up with gas and after driving it home there is a very strong fuel smell coming from the car. Looking online I see that many people with the E63 amg cars have also experienced this, and it is a faulty fuel sender unit that is literally leaking fuel out.
After filling the car with gasoline and parking in my garage there was a overwhelming odor of gasoline as well as pooling liquid gasoline under the driver side rear wheel. I've owned the car less than a week.
Smell of fuel after parking the car and engine cool-down. More prominent after refueling.
Similar to the complaints filed by Mercedes Benz w211 members owning 2003 - 2006 e55 amg's, my 2007 w211 E63 amg is experiencing fuel leaking from the fuel sender/pump assembly unit. I noticed a distinct gas odor in my garage the morning after I filled up with gas. I checked the fuel sender/pump assembly area as is stated in many forums where owners are complaining about this commonly occurring issue. There was fuel puddled in the cup of the assembly. I replaced the seal hoping that it would correct the issue but it did not. I filled up again with fuel on Tuesday, August 14 and within minutes there was fuel puddled again in the assembly area and a distinct fuel smell on the outside of the vehicle.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised that the fuel sending unit malfunctioned, causing the fuel leak. The fuel sending unit was repaired however, the failure recurred one year later. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000. The current mileage was approximately 74,000. Kmj.
