Engine problems of the 1998 Mercedes Benz E Class

Two problems related to engine have been reported for the 1998 Mercedes Benz E Class. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2005

Driving car at 55 miles per hour when harmonic balancer failed, lost power steering, was able to direct car to side of road. Had car towed to shop who diagnosed problem, suggesting it go to a mb dealer. Had car towed to dealer where.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2003

Failure of harmonic crankshaft balancer in 1998 Mercedes Benz e320.
