Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2006 Mercedes Benz E Class. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Fuel tank cracked. Unexplained, and confirmed by dealer. Fumes leak from exterior (can detected when tank is near capacity). Clear and present danger. Mb solution is to replace defective tank. Pe12001 (related case it would seem) -- E Class.
Fuel smell when vehicle is filled up . . . Fuel leaking at top of fuel tank . . . This is a know problem with the w211 E Class cars from 2003 to 2009 dealer wants 2000. 00 to repair this flaw in the fuel system mercedes will not help at all with this known problem.
