1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

I started smelling gas in the car cabin. There was gas on my driveway as well. The gas sign started to flash on my dash and the check engine light came on. Went to the dealership and they said there was a major leak in the purge system. They quoted me $3066. 88. They should take responsibility and not pass it on to me.

2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

I purchased the mercedes in April 2013 of this year and less than 30 days of purchasing the car I had major repairs done to the car. I slightly smelled fuel vapors when I purchased the car however I thought that it was just a possible after effect of me refueling the car. Over the course of two months the fumes became worse and worse and I stay with a migraine everyday. Today was unbearable as it is hot outside and it is becoming hard to concentrate and it feels like my head is about to burst. I am going to take it into the dealer as this is the worst experience in my life! the people I purchased the car from refused to pay for anything and I wanted to return the call altogether! I plan on going to the dealer, and to the doctor.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 01/31/2013

I'm writing to lodge a complaint concerning a dangerous fuel leak into the cabin of my parents' 2006 Mercedes Benz e 350 (VIN [xxx]), which has resulted in gas soaking the rear insulation pad, sound pad, & rear seat cushion, all of which are "soaked" in gas (per the repair recommendation from mb of san diego). I should add that the car only has about 55k miles. My mom is 76 and my dad is 82. They don't drive much-- just local errands. The only reason my mom caught this one was the strong gas smell in the cabin. I am writing to you directly for the following reasons: 1. This relates to your on-going investigation #pe12-001. 2. The fuel leak presents a dangerous risk of fire and risk of gas fume inhalation to the driver and passengers. 3. The fuel from the leak does in fact soak into rear insulation pad, sound pad, & rear seat cushion, despite the incorrect denial of that fact by mb-USA to the NHTSA. (see letter from mb-USA to you. ) 4. The service advisor at mb of san diego told me last week that he has personally seen a lot of these fuel leaks into the cabin with mbs. I have asked the dealer performing the repair to save the defective the part(s) and the soaked insulation pad, sound pad, & rear seat cushion. It is available for your inspection. 4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 11/06/2012

It has been about a month since purchase when I notice a gas odor inside the car. It smells like a fuel leak. The smell comes & goes. One day I took my car to the mercedes dealer due to a recall & inquired about a gas leak/odor that I noticed since purchase. I was told that I will have to pay for the diagnostics then if it is the fuel system then it will cost approximately $3000 - $5000. It's been almost a year since I purchase my car & the smell still lingers throughout the inside of my car. I don't drive my car as often as I want to due to fear of a faulty fuel system.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 03/12/2012

2006 mercedes e350 purchased in November 2007. Current mileage less than 90k. In March 2012 I entered my garage and smelled a heavy scent of gasoline. Vehicle taken to Mercedes Benz of buckhead. Advised that there was a problem with fuel leaking under back passenger seat. Vehicle has never been involved in an accident. Repair cost $965. 63.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 08/10/2011

I came out to my garage one morning to find a my car wreaking of fuel. I decided to drive the car around for a few to see if it the pungent odor would go dissipate altogether. During this time, I took it to my mechanic to let him do a quick once-over before he left for the day. He stated that there was fuel leaking onto my exhaust. Being that he didn't have the tools and whatnot to replace the sending unit, I had it towed to Mercedes Benz. I was not going to let my girlfriend drive the car to the dealership. No way, no how. Skyland automotive(my local mecedes benz dealership) found a puddle of fuel under my back seat. They replaced the fuel sending unit partially under my third party warranty. I, however, had to pay roughly $500 out of pocket. I have heard of this issue happening on many w211 E Class cars, it has happened to some more than once. I'm at 7x,xxx miles now and definitely don't want to have to go through this again. Fuel leaking onto the ground is bad enough, but leaking onto my exhaust isn't to be tolerated. It's downright dangerous. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 05/16/2007

After fueling up completely, there was a strong raw gasoline smell in my garage. It was coming from the rear driver's side wheel well. This is the opposite side of where the fuel fill cap is! there were no visible puddles on my floor, but it smelled as if there should be. The problem went away for a little bit, however, it does this now every time I fill up the car and it is hot outside.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Mercedes Benz E Class

Failure Date: 10/28/2004

I own a mercedes e 500 ,year 2004. I found out about the recall for the brake problem after I almost kill myself when the brake system failed yesterday. The mercedes failed to inform the consumer esp. This kind of defect. I found out that this recall was since may and had to experience myself before receiving the recall letter. This is not a good bussiness practice and in fact a negligence on the part of the company. This can cause my life and may others who own the same model of car in whom I know a few and they have not received any recall letter.
