Side/window Air Bag Problems of Mercedes Benz E Class

Consumer stated that passenger side rear door was opened to let some people in vehicle. Air bag in the door prematurely deployed. He said this happened before passenger could stand from exiting the vehicle. Also, what frightened consumer was that it happened moments before consumer was on the highway traveling at about 70 mph.

Consumer contacted the dealer, in reference to recall number 00v388000/ manufacturer's recall number 2000110004 concerning air bag failure. Vehicle was at dealer for two days, parts were not available to correct problem. The consumer believes the dealer's failure to do the recall job on time was because the service was free of charge.
