| Transmission Not Go Into Gear problems |
I was driving on highway about 50mph when vehicle suddenly would not shift gears and would not accelerate; only the engine increased rpms. I tried to manually shift gears and number on the instrument changes but the transmission would not respond. I was able to coast over the the shoulder placed the car in park, shut off the ignition and restarted the car. Now all was normal. Then a few weeks later the same thing happened car was unresponsive in changing gears in auto mode or manual mode. Again stopping and restarting car it aced normal. Finally this past day it happened when making a right turn I completely lost the ability to move the vehicle in an intersection and was almost rear ended. I have maintained this unit according to the manufacturer service schedule and it was looked at by the dealer in September of 2014. This issues occurs without warning and with no alerts from the vehicle that it is occurring. This is a very dangerous flaw with this Mercedes Benz 722. 9 gear box. A quick search of the internet reveals that others in the USA and around the world have expirenced similar unsafe operation of this gearbox and mercedes has done nothing about it. I am worried that I could loose power suddenly again when need it most and potentially injure myself, my passengers or others on the road.
