While I was driving the car, with the seat belt fastened, the seat belt suddenly popped out. This was a scary experience! repeated attempts to fasten the seat belt again did not work. On closer inspection, it appears that something inside the fastening system was probably broken, and the seat belt wasn't getting fastened in there. I immediately took the car to the dealer (Mercedes Benz of el dorado hills). After inspecting it, they were able to reproduce the issue (seat belt not getting fastened at all) and advised replacing the seatbelt system on the car. Unfortunately, they did not have the part in stock, so they advised that they would order the part and charge me $800 for this. I can't believe that a fundamental car safety system like this would fail like this. Imagine if there was a car accident and the seat belt just popped out of the fastener, not doing the job it was designed for? thank you for investigating this issue. It could indeed save a lot of lives, if this is a widespread issue, necessitating a recall campaign from mercedes.
The contact owns a 2008 Mercedes Benz Gl450. The contact stated their vehicle had a warning light that stated the seat belt on the passenger side had failed. The vehicle was included in a recall NHTSA campaign number: 22v315000 (service brakes, hydraulic) could cause additional issues with the vehicle's seat belt. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired for the seat belt. The manufacturer was not made aware. The approximate failure was unknown.
This car has lot of issues with water pump, radiator leak, lot of engine problems. Oil leak it's got less than 100,000 miles. Radiator hoses leak. Car stopped on mass pike going to albany, NY took it to benz of albany they said engine misfires needs engine replacement and it would cost $47,000 to replace. Very very bad engines. I left a voicemail on benz customer service and no one called back or send me any type of recalls. Very bad service.
The contact owns a 2012 mercedes-benz Gl450. While driving 20 mph, the rear middle seat belt fractured without warning. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I was driving in my son [xxx] to his school in wayne new jersey with my gl 450 seats warmer turned on in both the drivers and passenger seats. I started smelling smoke & thought it was from outside. I opened my window, and smoke started swirling inside my car and started getting thicker within minutes. I try to search for the source of the strange smell - but no obvious clue observed. When I reached my destination I noticed that the seat has burned a hole in my suit jacket back left side. The hole in the car is on the left side of the drivers seat. I have not contacted Mercedes Benz service and would like to know what I should do if possible. I would appreciate directing me to the appropriate line to fix my seat and electrical system of my Jeep and get compensated for my suit damage ASAP.
The plastic that holds the latch broke. We normally have a child seat buckled into that belt. But we were on a trip, and I was the one using this seat belt. I could not latch it, and found that a chunk of the plastic had broken away from the belt and would not latch. Mercedes and my extended protection plan will not replace it without a cost. Of apprx 170. 00 I have never had an issue with a safety device in any vehicle that I have owned, and I believe that a car that costs over 80,000. 00 would want to know why it has failed. I am grateful that my grand child was not buckled into this belt!.
My child, who is 11, can not sit in the rear seats of this truck without the shoulder harness sliding across his neck, a terrible situation should an accident occur. His head is forced downward by the head rest in either the up or down position. Given the position of the head rest, even a booster seat is ineffective. The vehicle is equipped with "power easy entry" option which makes removing the headrests impossible (vehicles without this option have removable head rests). The dealer, after seeing my child in the seat, also agreed that there is a significant safety so, at its expense, removed some parts of the "power easy entry" option so we could remove the headrests. The manufacturer needs to address this safety issue.
Purchased 2008 cpo gl-450. Unfortunately for me I have had numerous incidental/consequential repairs which does not coinside with the marketing specific performance. The following are the current repairs: crack in rear bumper 10/22/12, faulty rear hatch 11/01/12, faulty door 2/4/13, engine piston leak 3/5-19/13, , system stereo/navigation failure 5/13, fuel smells 7/6/13, steering wheel replacement 3/14, garnish molding replacement, air pressure shocks malfunction 3/14, and seat belt failure 6/14. And I am to believe my vehicle passed a cpo inspection with all these noticeable failures. As a consumer, I was willing to sacrifice extra costs for quality and reassurance; instead I experienced a defect in ¿truth-in-advertisement. I have 4 months left on my extended warranty(you can only purchase Mercedes Benz warranty if you buy a cpo Mercedes Benz vehicle ;which are extra added fees to the cost/price of the vehicle. ), if not properly addressed, I believe this type of exceptional circumstance of auto sales/performance and business practice will grow and transfer severe financial hardship on any/ and all consumers.
