The third row seating panorama sunroof cracked. Now when it rains, water leaks inside the SUV. Loud boom, cracking sound, was not sure what it was but was coming from rear of SUV as I was driving yesterday afternoon. No warning lamps, messages, as it is the glass panorama sunroof located in the rear upper roof of the SUV. I will take it to my aaa insurance representative this week. I will bring it to my independent mb certified mechanic shop for inspection. I have no idea what could have caused the panorama sunroof to crack other than perhaps manufacturing defect, as I have noticed on several mb forums of this particular issue being reported.

I had just arrived home. The car was off and I was parked in my garage. I opened the door but it didn't open all the way to the first hinge. My hand was in the door as it slowly started to close. The door caught slightly and the soft close feature activated. My thumb was caught in the door and was crushed as the door sealed completely closed with the soft close feature. I was unable to open the door during this time. I was yanking on the door handle trying to open the door to free my thumb but the door would not open until the soft close was complete. As a result my thumb was crushed. I believe that this a design fault with the vehicle. The fact that there was no sensor to detect something in the door as well as not being able to open the door at any point during the self close process presents many safety issues! I reached out to mercedes directly and they said after an evaluation that the vehicle works the way it's designed and that the door could open during anytime of the soft close feature. I made a short video showing that in fact you can not open the door during the soft close process. My finger was not broken because I closed the door on it! the door wasn't closed all the way, it had only just slightly latched and was then crushed by the soft close. I explained to mercedes that this was very dangerous especially with my 3 and 5 year old. If it crushed my thumb it would break their hand!! after I disputed that you can't open the door somebody higher up at mercedes called me and said that I was correct you can't open the door during the soft close and that I was right but that is the way the vehicle is designed therefore it's operating correctly. When I asked what they would do he simply asked why don't I just go and buy a new car without the feature!! I explained that I didn't fell like spending another $100 000. 00 when my car is only 4 years old!.

Takata recall if Mercedes Benz is aware of this recall how come a year later I haven't been notified of this. The recall still shows no remedy. This is very dangerous especially as this is a family car and I drive my young kids everyday around in this vehicle. Mercedes should be ashamed. I want this matter fixed ASAP. Certain mercedes-benz vehicles and one fca model are equipped with driver-side front airbags provided by the supplier tk holdings inc. ("takata"). On January 25, 2016 takata filed a defect information report with NHTSA announcing a potential defect in some of the subject inflators. Based upon takata's information to date, takata is aware of four test ruptures in ballistic tests of non-desiccated psdi-5 inflators. Takata is not aware of any field incidents in which a psdi-5 inflator has ruptured, either desiccated or non-desiccated. Takata is taking this action in an abundance of caution, to address all of the subject non-desiccated psdi-5 air bag inflators, due to the similarities of design and manufacturing characteristics for this type of inflator used in the u. S. Market. Dag is not aware of any field incidents with the subject takata psdi-5 inflators. However, based on the information above and in an abundance of caution, dag will conduct a voluntary recall of the vehicles equipped with subject takata psdi-5 inflators in the united states as identified by takata in the defect information report. Safety risk: according to takata, in the event of an inflatorrupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may resulting injury or death to vehicle occupants. Remedy: once parts are available customers will be sent a letter asking them to go to an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer who will replace the driver side front airbag of the potentially affected vehicles recall status: incomplete. Remedy not yet available.

My car has an ongoing problem with the hvac system. It generates a mold and mildew smell while using the ac and heat. Mercedes says they no of this issue but have no permanent fix. The smell is so bad that it is almost un-drivable. Mercedes dealerships have bulletins that denote the issue is known, but their work around only temporarily improves the smell. There is an obvious engineering issue with the hvac system that is unhealthy. There is apparently that forms around the mold around the ac evaporator. Mercedes has an internal alert # TSB li83-30-p-059119. This is not a permanent fix and only improved the smell for 3-4 weeks and took over two days to implement. The smell occurs all the time when either the ac or heater is on. This started at 2200 miles and continues today (I have 17k miles now).
