Steering Problems of Mercedes Benz GL550

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz Gl550. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel seized, and the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine and malfunction pp0 warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to steer the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. The contact stated that an independent mechanic facility was nearby, so the mechanic and the contact pushed the vehicle into the shop. The vehicle was diagnosed with failed cam shaft gear and lifters. The contact was informed that the cam shaft gear and lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer previously because of an abnormal sound however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

We purchased the 2013 gl 550 five months ago. When we were driving home the vehicle shifted itself into park while in was in drive. The vehicle abruptly stopped and violently jerked the car and our family was inside in traffic approaching a four way stop light. When we attempted to put the car back into drive and pull off the car automatically shifted itself into park again while we were driving. This happened in the middle of traffic while making a left turn with oncoming traffic at a light. Police were called. Car was towed. We've since found that there was a recall for faulty installation of the eis for the model year right before ours, 2012. Apparently the problem was never fixed and was passed on, but Mercedes Benz failed to warn consumers nor issue a recall. We are getting no help with repairs even though this is an ongoing safety issues occurring in several of their cars. I was driving on the highway at 80 mph. Then all of a sudden on the speedometer a message started to be displayed blind spot inactive ,then pre-safe functions limited active lane keep assist unavailable . All of a sudden the cruz control failed. Them the turn signals failed . Then I stopped the car waited for 10 mins restarted the car the same error came after driving 300 miles . The failure of turn signals nearly caused me to have accidents since the person behind me doesnt know when I am changing the lane. I had small children in my car and my wife . This problem is worser than the Toyota prius cruz control failure.

Daimler ag, (dag) the manufacturer of mercedes-benz vehicles, has determined that on certain gle, GLS and gle coupé vehicles (166, 292 platform) with the active curve system (acs), the oil in the acs's oil reservoir could start foaming under dynamic driving situations in combination with an oil level below minimum. The oil foam might leak out of the oil reservoir through the vent holes in the sealing cap. Depending on the orientation of the vent holes in the sealing cap, leaking oil could spray onto hot surface components of the exhaust system. In such a case the risk of a fire cannot be ruled out. As a precautionary measure an authorized mercedes-benz dealership, will correct the oil level if necessary and replace the sealing cap of the oil reservoir with an optimized sealing cap to prevent oil foam leakage. Safety risk: depending on the orientation of the vent holes in the sealing cap, leaking oil could spray onto hot surface components of the exhaust system. Vehicle malfunctioned for the 5th time since June 2017 while driving on the surface street. SUV completely shut down while driving, loss of steering and dashboard illuminates every warning signal including a beeping sound; gears shut down and SUV completely stops was driving. In looking at the history (I'm the 3rd owner), the work performed for the defective camshaft was completed 2 years after the 2009 mercedes bulletin and another replacement to the balance shaft and camshaft was performed 1 year after the 2012 bulletin. In its report, mercedes issued a caution and stated, "new timing chain tensioner must be installed and only after the engine head covers (valve covers) are installed/bottled on. Failure to observe that will result in the over tightening the timing chain which will ultimately lead to engine head damage. " in the car fax report, I see after each repair, the owner sold the vehicle. In looking at my receipts, I see my reports of smoke from the dashboard (fire department came to my vehicle while in route to my son's school to ensure my SUV would not catch fire). I also see requests to replace light bulbs for blown fuse, the battery, wiring issue under the seat, now a new problem related to the can technology. Another receipt work done on the camshaft. Based on my research, the recall relates to the degrading of poor materials used to manufacture the 1st gen suvs. I don't believe there are any reported deaths but it puts many people at risk as I was researching this issue looking for my receipts, I came across another receipt for the ml500 2006 I sold before I purchased my current vehicle. There is an issue with the power steering rack. There is a recall for this problem but my VIN is not included on the recall list.

Power steering went out 2014 charged me for it. Claimed no recalls. Front right headlamp had to be replaced two times. This was the whole headlamp assembly. Due to water getting control box wet. Claimed it's how the headlamp is made. Claimed no warranty or recall on it. 2016 & 2019.
