Seats problem #3

On 1/17/25, I was on my commute to my office when I noted a very strong and unpleasant odor. Thinking it was from a truck in front of me, I passed the truck, cracked my passenger window and continued the short distance to my office. After work, when I returned to my car, I noted a hole burned through my driver's side leather seat. I didn't make the connection to the odor from that morning until I arrived home and did some online research. It turns out that my front seat warmer had malfunctioned, burning all the way through the leather. This problem is well documented online in various forums in my year, make and model. In some cases I read about, driver's clothing burned. In one case I found, a child was burned. This is also a well documented problem that occurred in earlier models of mercedes, resulting in a lawsuit and a recall. My car is currently at the dealer for repair of the faulty seat warmer, replacement of the burned foam cushion, and replacement of the leather seat cover. This could have been so much worse had I been earlier in my commute, or on a highway where I could not have pulled over. It seems like this problem should prompt a recall.

Seats problem #4

On January 01, 2025, I started my wife's car after adding coolant. I just want to warm it up since we did not use it in a couple of days. I activated the heated seat on the driver side where I was seated and was just looking at the dashboard. I felt something on back right side and thought that there was an insect bite. When I turned and look, I discovered a dime size red small flame and smoke on the seat and realized that it is possibly and part of the heated seat heating element that burned through the seat material and burned my sweater a little bit. I turned off the heated seat immediately and shut off the car and made sure the burning stop or was out. I was thankful that this happen while I was just warming out the car and stationary and that it did not happen while my wife was driving the car. This could have produced a dangerous situation, a bigger fire while driving and could have cause an accident. I called the Mercedes Benz service department which was possibly closed but I got a call back the following day and they said that there is no open recall on this vehicle on anything. I ask what is my option and the answer was to get it checked at the service dept. And that it would cost $351. 00 just to find out what was wrong with it. I schedule service for Jan 14, 2025 at 3:30 pm. No police or insurance inspection was done. There has been no warning lamp or message to warn me of the problem. Jan 01, 2025 is the first time it happened. I told my wife not to use the heated seat and put a note on the car to inform anyone that will be in the car even though it is just my wife and I that drives the car.

Seats problem #5

The leather seat on the drivers side has melted. After trying to research for a recall, I did see that others have had this problem also. It appears that the seat heater causes the leather to melt. The leather has melted and peeled and is flaking.

Seats problem #6

The contact owns a 2013 mercedes-benz Glk350. The contact stated while driving at 40 mph, the headrest inadvertently deployed and hit the contact's husband in the back of the head. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that they continued to drive the vehicle and later veered to the side of the road to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they would be responsible for the cost of the repair as the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact stated two months later, an unknown message appeared on the instrument panel indicating that the driver side and passenger side frontal air bags needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the headrest needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 73,930.

Seats problem #7

I have a 2013 mbz Glk350. The vehicle I own has leather seats (or they are supposed to be leather. ) I have noticed, especially on the driver's side front seat, that the leather appears to have melted for some reason. I these seats were indeed leather I would have thought this would not be happening, but unfortunately, it has. I suspect that the leather seats are really a hybrid seat of synthetic materials that are prone to "melting. ".

Seats problem #8

Passenger seat sensor malfunction at 43k miles causing airbag malfunction light comes up or sensing a passenger while no one is sitting.

Seats problem #9

Passenger side seat warmer overheating when turned on very hot to touch and causing smoke in cabin.

Seats problem #10

We have 2012 Mercedes Benz Glk350 bought from nanuet Mercedes Benz, nanuet, NY. On March 11 driving on rte 306s and hit a pot hole covered with water at about 20 mph. The head rest split apart and hit my neck. If I were driving 40 or more miles per hour that impact would have broken my neck even could cause death. Was there any similar complaint? something like this did not happen in 43 years of my driving. Is the car manufacturer liable for it? I took the car to the dealer and it would cost about $600. Please do not call, I am hard of hearing, communicate through e-mail.

Seats problem #11

The seats on both the passenger and driver size has split at the seams. They began to appear in 2012. The battery failed and the car would not start. Periodically the car starts up slow. The car bucks in a hard motion when trying to accelerate. The car makes a grinding noise, with a dragging feeling, while driving. Mechanics cannot figure out what or where the sound and feeling is coming from.
