On [xxx], my mother was driving our 2010 mercedes-benz glk 350 to work around 6:30 am when the vehicle suddenly caught on fire without warning. The car was completely destroyed in the fire. Thankfully, she was able to exit safely. After doing research online, we found many reports of 2010 glk 350 models catching fire due to fuel system issues and leaks, which appear to be common with this year and model. We were surprised to learn that our VIN currently shows no active recalls, even though the issue seems widespread. We can provide photos of the car before and after the fire, towing documentation, and the police/fire report. The cleanup and towing bills have been expensive, and we are filing this report so NHTSA can investigate whether this is a safety defect that should result in an official recall. Vehicle: 2010 mercedes-benz glk 350 incident date: [xxx] location: mountville, PA VIN: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Headlight bulbs failed. Owners manual states that the low beam bulb on the driver's side can be replaced by simply removing back cover, inserting hand and removing and replacing bulb. However, this is fraudulent. Every mechanic and the mercedes dealers state that the bumper and possibly fender must be removed to replace this safety item. The bulb went out on a trip and could not be replaced even though the bulb was readily available and I purchased it at a walmart but could not replace it. Even though the walmart replaced bulbs, after I waited 2 hours they told me they could not do it. I took it to two mechanics and they said they "did not have time" since it required disassembly of the vehicle. The mercedes dealership said they could not provide an estimate because it required substantial time and disassembly. Now I have a car that has a bulb out, it cannot be driven at night, and to replace the bulb it requires an appointment at mercedes and apparently hundreds of dollars of expense for labor. Like windshield wipers, tires, etc, etc, this is obviously a critical safety item and mercedes has committed fraud in its representation that the bulb can be owner replaced. My car now is a danger driving at night. The NHTSA has statutory responsibility for the safety of vehicles and the internet has endless entries about the difficulty of replacing the headlight bulbs on this vehicle. I pay taxes. Do something.

On 11/18/2023, while driving my Glk350 2014, I decided to open and later close the sunroof. As I closed the sunroof, I heard a distinct cracking sound, which caught my attention. Initially, I was unsure of the source of the sound and continued driving. It wasn't until I arrived home that I made a shocking discovery - the front black stationary window panel, located just above the windshield, had shattered unexpectedly. Prior to this incident, I had meticulously cared for my car, ensuring it was regularly maintained and kept in excellent condition. There were no visible cracks or signs of damage on the front black stationary window panel. I even hand-washed the vehicle earlier that day and inspected the panel, confirming its integrity. I had a clear view of the area around the car while I was on a ladder, ruling out the possibility of any rocks or debris causing the breakage. My adult daughter was present in the car with me as a witness to this unfortunate event. We were both astonished by the sudden and unexplained shattering of the window panel. Given the circumstances, it became evident that there is a significant safety concern regarding the Glk350 2014 model's front black stationary window panel. The shattered panel poses serious risks to the safety of both the driver and passengers. These risks include compromised structural integrity, the potential for harmful glass projectiles, and impaired visibility that could lead to accidents or hazardous driving situations. To address these urgent safety concerns, I have written this letter to request an immediate safety recall for all Glk350 2014 vehicles. It is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all drivers and passengers who rely on your esteemed automobile brand. Please consider the gravity of this situation and take swift action to rectify.

I was driving with my heat on in cold weather. I was in motion when I heard a loud pop. I was on route 1 traveling straight on the road. At first I thought it was my windshield. Then I heard a crackling sound above me. The whole front panel sunroof now looked like crackle glass. When I got home I looked to see if something had hit the sunroof but nothing had. When I contacted my merecedes dealership they would not acknowledge there was a problem even though I had told them what the mercedes blogs were saying. I had the dealership replace the sunroof. The panel cost $1131. 20 plus labor $402. 50.

My 2013 Glk350 was stationary and I was parked in my parents driveway in illinois. It was nighttime and I went to go close the panoramic roof since I was going inside and it was lightly raining. Temps outside were mild since it was may 27, 2016. When I went to close the roof I heard a crunch sound but did not notice it was shattered. I closed the sun blind and it wasn't until I opened the blind the next time may 28, 2016. My sister and I both looked up and noticed the glass was shattered. The rest of my family also noted the damage also and we took included pictures. I called mb USA at 800 367. 6372. Adam the rep I spoke to said I needed to take it to the dealership to see if it's part of a recall but when they looked it up there was no recall for my VIN?? I followed up with vanessa at the 800 and she said the same that svc guy did at dealership. I escalated my complaint for resolution, no objects or rocks, etc came in contact with the glass and the track was clear of debris. I looked on internet and noted several similar incidents of the glass shattering and some with glass exploding out or imploding??! mb is not claiming responsibility which I do not understand! I have escalated again and I am still waiting to connect with mb USA to discuss since this is clearly a defect. It doesn't matter whether you're stationary or moving this is a serious hazard. I had to get this repaired and cost me upwards of $1600 out of pocket. . But has cost up to $2k per incident. Come to find out this is not only happening to other car models and so far there are complains filed against kia and Nissan.

Taken Glk350 three times to dealership for having issues with water coming back to drivers front windshield when raining and not having the ability to see on drivers side due to heavy smear of water being left behind when wipers going back down after wiping off , happens any time it rains light to moderate.
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes Benz glk 350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a loud abnormal noise as the vehicle sun roof shattered into small pieces. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road for the contact to observe the failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnosis or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 9,400.
Driver's side wiper leaves a wide water streak when leaving the a-pillar, blocking driver's vision. Sent vehicle back to two dealers for 5 times. Each time the dealership changed a wiper blade, but problem remained. A new mb factory windshield was installed in 2014 summer due to glass damage unrelated to this defect. After that, problem remains. In November 2014, a service manager cited a publication from xentry, topic number li82. 30-p-059239 (c), suggesting that it's a common problem existing on all passenger car model series and there's no technical remedy available, thus refused to provided any further warranty repairs. .
