Fuel Pump Problems of Mercedes Benz M Class

While driving in moderate traffic engine stopped. Driver (not me) was very scared and said an accident almost occurred as she maneuvered to breakdown lane without power and no power steering. Frozen pumps sent for evaluation to stuttgart did work when they arrived there without the presence of gas the "glue" had hardened to a point that it got brittle and the pumps worked again.
