Four problems related to hydraulic power assist steering system have been reported for the 2001 Mercedes Benz ML320. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
We believe that one or more mechanical and/or design failures contributed to an accident in which our 2001 Mercedes Benz ml 320 was involved.
Lost power steering while driving. Was told by mercedes on-call service technician that the clamp to the power steering is coming loose in all of the ml 320's and the car still isn't being recalled. In fact there were two other complaints in the one hour he was there helping me.
The clamp on the power steering hose came off and caused the fluid to leak. As a result the steering wheel locked up. The dealer was notified and the vehicle was repaired.
Vehicle lost power steering at 40 mph, dealer determined ac fuse had blown. Dealer replaced wiring harness and hose. Ts.
