Two problems related to steering rack and pinion have been reported for the 2008 Mercedes Benz ML350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Steering wheel get hard then soft on turn causing lose of control I took it to my mechanic and said its the rack & pinion I look online for recall thier is one for steering rack so I call the dealer they said mine is not.
This is the second time the rack and pinion has failed. Once at 85000 miles in a parking lot at work in greenville texas. This time it was with a rebuilt a1carbin rack and pinion. The steering felt like it locked up. After it failed the steering of the car is impossible at slow speed even for a man. Almost hit two people but was able to avoided it.
