Mercedes Benz ML350 owners have reported 41 problems related to seat belt (under the seat belt category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mercedes Benz ML350 based on all problems reported for the ML350.
The driver's seat belt is locked and the retractor is not working without any reason. The front adaptive cruise control radar is also not working, along with the crucial blind spot sensor. Because of this, the vehicle cruise control (even without adaptive mode) is not working at all. This is a big safety issue and it is illegal to even drive this car without the seat belt working.

The contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz Ml350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to seat the child in the car seat, he noticed that the seat belt was loose. The contact checked the car seat and pushed the seat to one side and the seat belt unwound and retracted to the normal position. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who diagnosed that the seat belt latching system had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

The rear seat belts do not retract once pulled out. Over the course of several days, they slowly work their way back up. No vehicle should have a seatbelt fail; it is even more ridiculous that this part failed in a car that is this expensive or that has had such a long history of safety. It isn't safe for anyone to sit in the back seats because the seat belts are out-stretched so far that a person would be thrown forward a ways before the seatbelts stopped them. That is dangerous.

Both rear seat belts will not retract. They are fully extended.
I read that there have been 3-4 recalls on my mercedes which we bought brand new and I have never received notifications.
Seat belts will not extend. When trying to buckle seat belt, the belt retractor locks as you try to extend, preventing you from buckling your seat-belt. Affects both driver and passenger seat-belts. Intermittently happens and seems to be temperature related. More likely to happen when it is warm.
I was driving on the highway at 70 mph, the check engine came on and about 5 seconds later, a loud noise came probably from the engine. The car then started jolting back and forth; I hit my head on the steering wheel twice and got almost knocked out. The engine stopped while I was still running at 70 mph. Most if not all the lights in my dashboard came on then I started slowing down. The seat belt never tightened on me as the car was jolting. I kept the car rolling and got out of a very dangerous situation. As the car came to a halt, a lot of engine oil leaked on the street, maybe about aquart. I took a picture as I just got out of the car. Also, as the towing took the car, the towing bed got over a quart of engine oil that leaked from my car. I towed the car to mercedez benz of novi but they refused to take it. They ordered me to towed it out and tow it back to them two weeks later. I towed it to Mercedes Benz of bloomfield on September 6. I notified mbusa of this incident on September 7 and provided them access to check the car but they showed no interest whatsoever in looking at the complaint as the vehicle has 92,273 miles and is out of warranty. They instead offered me a $2,000 discount on a purchase of another vehicle. Neither the dealership nor mbusa verified the car for safety related issues on the engine or seat belt though it was and still is parked at the mb dealership of bloomfield. I could have easily went unconscious from the jolting and hitting my head on the steering wheel. I think there is a major safety issue that requires at a minimum for the manufacturer to look at let alone issue a recall for safety reasons on the engine and the seat belt.

Passenger side rear seat belt retractor failed and seat belt is in fully extended position and won't retract, making it unusable for protection of a passenger in that seat. The vehicle has never been in an accident or suffered any impact, etc. , and when a passenger had used the belt and went to take it off it wouldn't retract. There had been no prior indication of a problem. I am the original owner and my vehicle has only 24,280 miles on it and the seatbelt in question has only been used 10 or 15 times in the 8 year life of the vehicle as my wife and I are the only users, our children all grown and long gone. The mercedes dealer we purchased the vehicle from says the retractor cannot be repaired and needs to be replaced at a cost in excess of $800. I can't afford that, so it won't be repaired.

Just bought this car from a family member who takes great care of their cars. The rear drivers side passenger seatbelt does not work. I gently pulled out and it doesn't retract no matter what I tried. Now I can't use with my 3 kids. These rear seat belts were only lightly used from previous owner as this was her commuter car . Seems to me this has been a common complaint online yet no recall. Please investigate right away.
It does not retract back at all.
Back seat l&r passenger seat belts will not retract. They stay extended creating a safety issue for back seat passengers.
While traveling on the interstate my ml 350 Mercedes Benz was struck by another vehicle. I was traveling the speed limit of 70 miles per hour when a car passing me lost control of his vehicle and struck me. The impact was on the drivers side of the car on the rear wheel. The impact pushed my SUV to the right. Upon impact, the rear wheel on the passenger side broke, snapped in half and the flew away causing my Ml350 to roll five or six times before coming to rest just inches from on coming traffic traveling east bound on the other side of the median. The officer investigating the accident said his major concern was that upon impact the rear wheel on the passenger side snapped causing the car to roll five or six times. I contacted Mercedes Benz and requested they investigate the crash. I sent information about the accident to mercedes to review in addition to the current location of the vehicle and several images of the Ml350. I received a response by phone from Mercedes Benz in which the mercedes representative agreed with the officer that the wheel breaking upon impact was the reason the vehicle rolled over. I requested the information in writing; however, I was informed that Mercedes Benz does not share findings from such investigations they consider to be internal information. The vehicle was totaled but the good news was that there was no loss of life.
2 issues: right side rear seat belt will not retract. Second; after a week in the dealership to fix an a/c unit that cuts out repeatedly, and the assurances that the new harness they installed would fix the problem, it hasn't. Even though the outside temps are not into triple digits, it will stop cooling and slowly the air temp rises. I thought that being in slow traffic was the reason, but on the open road and an oat of 74°, it did it agsin.
Lh rear seat belt does not retract.
I was in a car accident in March 2016 and it was a front end collision. I almost went through the windshield however my seat belt didn't stop me or lock in place at all. I also contacted mercedes in April 2016 about my driver airbag that was recalled due to safety concerns and I still haven't been contacted for a resolution as I have reached out to them multiple times for options because it's unsafe to drive my vehicle.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Mercedes Benz Ml350. The contact stated that both rear seat belts were faulty. And would not retract properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000. Jft.
Rear left seat belt will not retract.
The rear seat belts do not fit snugly and they will not retract after usage. This is a serious safety issue as they are inoperable. Back seat passengers are at risk during driving.
Rear seatbelt stopped retracting, passenger side. Also had abs and esp warning indicators come on,was told all sensors should be changed but due to an extended warranty bought through a used car dealer only one sensor was changed. This has happened two times in three years.
I had a passenger in the rear of my vehicle and she told me the seat belts did not work. The rear passenger belt would not retract. When I stopped the vehicle we checked both sides and neither rear belts are working. They are all out of the containment system and locked. They will not retract and therefore cannot be used. I contacted mb USA to find out if there is a recall for the seat belts after I went online and found out that this is a very common problem with their vehicles. They told me there is no recall and they referred me back to the dealership. I am about to call the dealership, but I suspect that what I read online is true. They are passing on a defective seat belt to the consumer to repair just as I read online. I am filing this complaint in the hope that you will investigate mb for this issue. I have been a long-time customer of mb, but this may just change my mind.
Rear seatbelt fails to retract, stays out in the fully extended position. This prevents the seatbelt from retaining any passenger using the seatbelt. Have researched many complaints on this same issue. It appears the retract components do not operate properly. This is a safety issue in that you cannot tell when the seatbelt will malfunction.
Rear passenger side seat belt is fully extended and will not retract. The seatbelt is not operable, and is a severe safety concern.
Rear seat belts are loose, seat belts don't hold and don't go back. On both sides in rear. Seat belts stays loose. This is a defect.
Rear seatbelts fail to retract. I'm waiting on a call from the dealer's service department as to the cost to replace the rear seat belts. I have never experienced this problem in any other car brand. Very disappointed and concerned about cost to replace as car is out of warranty. However, since my two young kids ride in the back all the time I need functioning seat belts. Have seen some other similar complaints at various online forums. Perhaps an investigation is warranted due to the seriousness of this issue.
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes ml 350. The contact stated the passenger rear seat belt retracted preventing a child safety seat from being installed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the passenger side seat belt retractor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,250.
Rear seatbelt will not retract. Mileage is past warranty coverage & fix is very pricy (approx $800). This is a major safety issue especially with passengers, mostly children, in the back. I googled this & it seems I am not the only one who has this issue. It is wide spread & a fault of the manufacturer. Mercedes should be required to fix this free of charge! please help.
The rear passenger and middle passenger seat belts both went slack. Not due to any misuse. Certified preowned warranty expired October 31, 2013. Mercedes covered cost of parts, I picked up cost of labor.
Rear passenger seat belts won't retract. This leaves the belts loose and ineffective while driving.
Both rear seat belts will not retract. Dealer wants $1450 to fix them.
The rear seat belts on this vehicle get stuck all the way out and will not retract. The car is out of warranty as of this month and the dealer is quoting around $800 to fix this known issue. Having a broken retractor is not safe as we cannot put two people in the back seat of our car. A terrible design to have a seat belt break when very few passengers ride in the back seat except for my child. Please help and put a recall on this issue.
Both rear seat belts will not retract. They get stuck fully open.
Rear seat belt won't retract. Many have this problem according to online forums. Very common issue. Mercedes benz will not cover, vehicle out of warranty. They want over $700 to fix.
Seat belt was locked in position (unable to extend) on a least six occasion in the past two years. The dealer was unable to duplicate the locked seat belt issue. They suggested, I drive directly to the dealership next time this occurs. Until now the issue has not occurred at a time the dealership was available.
