My vehicle jerks back and forth at low acceleration, and it often goes into limp mode which makes the vehicle only drive at around 20 mph at most. I was on the highway, when this happened. I have a 722. 9 transmission, and this is a common problem. Why is the snapping recalled? I have had a checked with mercedes-benz of music city when I had gotten my recall work done, and they said that it just needs a whole new transmission. They said that they had never seen an issue like this. They want $16,000. I have been reading and reading and reading I don't know how they have not seen the issue when it's very very common. Again my question is, why has this not been recalled? there are soldering issues for a speed solenoid sensor, and the tcu it makes it go bad. What is going on, and why has this issue not been addressed? I have two toddlers that I drive in my vehicle every single day. God forbid we're not so lucky next time. The only reason why we did not get hit this time, is because we were on the highway at a slow hour of the day. My son is disabled and we are on the highway and in the car a whole lot. If this happens during rush hour, we will be no doubt smacked into by another vehicle.

2007 mercedes-benz Ml350 defective balance shaft causing pause & stop in traffic this is a known defect and has been resolved previously in customers favor in class action and private lawsuits against Mercedes Benz USA. Mercedes refuses to take responsibility for a defective and unsafe build that puts everyone in the path of this cars life in jeopardy. Please for the safety of the public will you force them to issue a recall on the balance shaft before I have to get an attorney! balance shaft - unsafe!! balance shaft has made this a suicide/weapon on wheels. When driving the car will suddenly and with no notice lose power, slow down substantially or stop on its own and sometimes will not moved forward at all. This has happened in traffic and I was almost hit. This is very unsafe could kill me or anyone around me. Each time I have had to turn on emergency flashers, turn off the car and restart. I drove home with emergency flashers on all the way. 2 mechanics, including dealer advise this is a known problem for my year and model. Mercedes knows this is defective workmanship & they putting lives at risk. Now I have no transportation as this car is unsafe. I have been advised not to drive the car.

Pulling out into lane of traffic accelerating where car abruptly starts to run very very rough. Check engine lights come on and can become unsafe with no power and oncoming traffic approaching. Similarly while driving over 60mph same scenario causing cel to come on and car to disengage cruise and slow extremely fast. Very rough running and idle. Terrible feeling of being unsafe and at risk. Finding p0016 and p0017 codes and all symptoms of balance shaft issue that the mb m272 is known for. My wife and I are afraid to drive this vehicle now knowing it had a known defective engine component in a software balance shaft gear.

The contact owns a 2011 mercedes-benz Ml350. While driving 70 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. At the time of the failure, the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic was unable to properly diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was eventually towed to the local mercedes dealer (james motor company (2440 richmond rd, lexington, ky 40502, (859) 268-1150). The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
There is a systemic problem with the Mercedes Benz 7g tronic 722. 9 transmission control module which causes the vehicle's transmission to, without notice, fail to shift out of 2nd gear which creates a serious safety hazard while driving including entering the freeway and attempting to merge into traffic. The issue is well documented on a number of website on the internet which includes support groups including one advocating and soliciting a class action suit in the state of CA. The NHTSA needs to look into this manufacturer's defect so as to prevent serious injury including the loss of life. Mb USA is very much aware of the issue which requires the replacement of transmission control module (tcm). Adding insult to injury, mb restricts the sale of the tcm so that the repair can only be made at an authorized mb dealership adding to the consumer's cost to repair the vehicle. The estimate repair cost is $1,500 at the dealership. Cost estimates outside of the dealership, if the item was able to be purchased, is less than half that. I was nearly rear ended by a tractor trailer while entering I-91 in CT just last week when the vehicle unexpectedly went into what mb calls "limp mode" when the check engine light comes on and the vehicle speed is restricted to 30 mph immediately. This near death experience was quite alarming. I contacted mb USA and they denied any knowledge that the problem was at all due to defective manufacturing. As an individual consumer we have no rights in this matter to eliminate this manufacturers safety defect while mb restricts and monopolizes the repair of a problem that they created. The failure of this part can happen at any time regardless of vehicle miles.
Going to work in the morning and pulling out of the garage my foot was on the brake not the accelerator in reverse suddenly the car surged by itself while I had my foot on the brake. The car went in reverse very fast hitting our side concrete side wall. (the distance is about (28ft) the impact was so hard that the passenger window was completely broken and the passenger side of the back frame of the mercedes was smashed. It happened so fast that I lost control of the vehicle I could not stop the car the brakes did not work. After I hit the wall I was jolted forward and I smashed the front end of the car with the garage. The car finally stopped in the middle of the driveway. Again, I did not put the car in drive when I was jolted forward the car went forward from the impact of the hit from the wall and I did not put my foot on the accelerator.

The contact owns a 2015 mercedes-benz Ml350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse and the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle crashed into a wall and the rear window fractured. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated up to 30 mph in reverse. The contact stated that the vehicle then switched gears into drive independently, lunged forward, and crashed into the garage. The contact stated that there was extensive damage to the front and rear of the vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed. The contact was not offered an explanation for the independent acceleration. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.
The contact owns a 2013 mercedes-benz Ml350. While parking the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed and the gear shifter in the reverse position, the vehicle accelerated backwards on its own. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Started car, put in reverse. Felt the engine surge moved shifter to neutral then drive . Engine surged, could not stop the car with the brakes it proceeded through a gate and was stopped by our stone fence. Air bags did not deploy.
I was in a collision in which I rear ended another SUV. The speed control did not enable and I hit the other vehicle hard enough to cause $20,000 worth of damage to my car. I believe the car braking response was slow and the airbag should have deployed in a crash that significant, but it did not.

The vehicle sensors all started flashing, including the stability control system, parking break, temperature gauge, etc. The speedometer fluctuated wildly, the car would not shift out of drive and would not shut off. I was trapped in the vehicle, unable to shift the car out of gear into park or neutral and the car would not shut off. I had to keep my foot on the brake, but I obviously could not get out of the car while it was in gear and running. After about 3 minutes of trying to get the car into park I was able to turn off the engine. It was extremely scary. This vehicle is unsafe.
The vehicle is getting stuck in 7 gear on the freeway and not down-shifting to allow passing. Even when coming to a stop, the car will remain in 7th gear. This is a dangerous condition because the consumer does not know the car is not shifting correctly. Mercedes is aware of valvebody and conductor plate issues with these cars.
While traveling in the center lane on a major parkway at the posted speed limit, our 2006 mercedes-benz Ml350 experienced a complete engine failure. The car would not accelerate; steering was compromised, as was braking. Braking and steering were very difficult, but possible allowing the car to be guided to the shoulder. All four family members were present including our two young sons. After being towed to a local authorized dealer repair shop, 4 days after the incident. . . The problem was reported as “engine jumped time” and the repair department would have to “remove engine and tear down to find cause of failure…most likely needs engine assembly”. As that the quoted price of the diagnostics and repair exceeds the current value of the car by several thousand dollars, the car was returned without further diagnostics or repairs. At no time in the past 4 years has there been a “check engine” light nor were there any indicators of any serious mechanical issues as per the car’s onboard computer reporting system or in general daily operations. Again, it is important to note, that there were no indicator lights or warnings prior to the failure. It is also important to note that in January of 2010, the same authorized dealer repair department mentioned above conducted the following repairs: “removed engine, replaced balance shaft, replaced oil pump, replaced cam solenoids, replaced gaskets…” in response to a persistent “check engine” light. Our records indicate that the 2010 “check engine light” occurred at 55,395 miles. This recent failure has occurred, minus the “check engine light” or any other indicators, at 99,424 miles. Our research indicates that this may be a known issue with this particular engine.
2013 Mercedes Benz Ml350: during the first occurrence, upon acceleration from a stop point, the vehicle hesitated lurching to then gain speed as intended by the driver. Second and third occurrences were identical and occurred while leaving the house with no traffic anywhere on sight. Vehicle was sent for repairs and dealership said a software update should have fixed the problem. On 10/15/13, while trying to reenter an expressway from the emergency lane, the car hesitated while trying to accelerate from an incoming vehicle. The vehicle lurched consecutive during three occasions in a matter of seconds then finally gained speed thus avoiding a collision. Should the incoming car have been driving just a bit faster, 4 passengers including a baby would have been rear ended by a vehicle traveling at expressway speeds.
Atm at bank was not operating and was going inside bank, at regions bank in hendersonville TN. When car was shifted from park into drive the car took off at a high rate of speed, that could not be stopped by braking. The result being, hitting two cars, when trying to go between them, then still couldn't stop until nose dive in rock lined four foot ditch .

The contact owns a 2006 Mercedes Benz Ml350. While shifting into reverse gear the vehicle surged backwards, resulting in a crash. Upon shifting the vehicle into drive, it then surged forward, resulting in another crash. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a serious injury and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a lot where the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 53,000. Updated 3/11/11.
It was 6:30 in the morning and I was pulling into my gym's parking lot. As I attempted to brake, the car continued to accelerate. I kept pumping on the brake only to have the car make a grinding sound as it continued to accelerate (as if it were resisting my attempts to stop it). Eventually, and thankfully before it hit the building, the car stalled to a stop. The car actually ascended 3 wooden porch steps and hit into a wooden porch column before stopping. It was a very early Saturday morning. Had I pulled into this driveway mid morning, on this Saturday (a time when this gym is especially active), I could very well have killed somebody. On the day of the incident, the car was towed to Mercedes Benz of greenwich, connecticut. At the time, I was given a loaner car to drive (at no expense to me). I have been told that a case has been established to investigate the incident. After a week's time, I contacted Mercedes Benz (800-367-6372 x6302 justin) in an effort to ascertain the status of this investigation. I could not get a direct answer of any kind from the gentleman that I spoke to. Mercedes benz's lack of communication has been very disturbing given the severity of this situation. This is a leased car which I have had for a little over 1 year. Without any kind of explanation from mb as to why this happened, I don't think I would step into this car if and when it was repaired. I would appreciate any intervention your department is prepared to put forth on my behalf here thank you.
