The auto dimming rear view mirror turned black and I cannot see out of it dealer wants like $800 to replace it. There are many people on the forums with the same problem, also the auto dimming drivers side mirror has a similar problem and can't see out of that either, again many people on the forums complain about this too. At one time the manufacturer of the mirror was sending free replacements since there were some quality control problems, but no more.

Mercedes benz Slk320 just dies out while driving. No warning lights or anything before the motor stops and the car loses power. Happens sporadically. Mercedes benz cannot detect the direct problem even after diagnosis. Continues to blame it on something else, then fixes it, but it continues to occur.

: the contact stated the brake light has darkened and it is not related to the bulb. The electrical system has become defective causing the vehicle left rear brake to darkened. There is a similar recall on the mercedes 170, but not on the Slk series.
This is in regards to recall number 05v505 for the driver side rear brake light. This recall occurred in 2006 and the light was fixed. However, it has failed again and has the exact same problem, the socked has gotten hot and melted/deformed the plastic socket. I don't know if the bulb was replaced only but to me it appears nothing has been done to repair this issue on this car.

I am an owner of a 2001 Slk 320. I have had chronic problems with headlamps and brake lamps going out , bulbs melting in lamps on brakes as well as headlamps. In the beginning these repairs were paid under manuf. Warranty. However, I am paying for replacement bulbs, most recently a headlamp problem I will have to have replaced at a cost close to $600. Today I received a recall from mercedes notice for the brake lamp problem. I question that the same may be true of headlights. My condition of brake and headlights being replaced as well as a brake lamp replaced in the past, was so chronic, I ordered and paid out of pocket for electrical testing on my car where nothing wrong was discovered. My point here is that I feel in addition to the brake light problem addressed by mercedes in my recall # 2006-080005, I believe it would be remiss for safety purposes to not announce that I believe the same condition applies to my Slk headlights. Also, for such problems on the brake lights that existed in the past, what recourse do I have in monies I laid out of pocket, pertaining to the chronic brake light problem in my Slk 320. Thank you.
2002 mercedes Slk 230- when stopping the car, and then take off again the car loses power. Indicator light does not come on at this time. This does not happen every time while driving the car. The vehicle has been to the dealership three or four times in past year and a half. The last time it was in the shop five days and driven 163 miles and the dealership could not duplicate the problem. However, when I picking up the vehicle drove it about 10 mph, stopped at a stop sign the car lost power. Then a few minutes later it happened again.
Car wants to stall/stop/hesitate upon acceleration.
