Two problems related to roof and pillar have been reported for the 1999 Mercedes Benz SLK230. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Hard top convertible will not open -- the micron chip has been replaced twice by the dealer. Hard top convertible squeaking noise -- I have taken the car in 6 times for the same problem; only occurs when car sits in direct sunlight at 85 degrees or hotte( dot number: ).
The convertible top intermittently will not go down. Sometimes when it's down it wont go up. Sometimes it gets stuck half up and half down. The remote keyless entry sometimes don't work from either remote. Then later it works again. The top nor the keyless entry can be depended upon to work.
