As I was driving (on a bridge) the convertible top/roof gushed and dumped an incredible amount of hydraulic fluid/oil right in my face unexpectedly! this came out of the blue. I had just raised it since it began to rain. The combination of raining weather and being on a one lane bridge and then having that spew into my face rendered me unable to see and had me swerving almost off the bridge as the other lane had vehicles driving. I almost wrecked and was left with highly painful eyes. In truth it could have lead to death without question had I not had a towel in my passenger seat to wipe my face. I’m now terrified to drive it but have to. Please help, especially if any others are having the same issue, which seems to be the case. I could have had an accident or worse had an accident with others and off of the bridge!.
My vehicle has excessive rust issues that I’m being told by the dealership will compromise my safety. There is currently an extension of warranty for only the subframe in rear, but the rust is extended beyond that and is applied to the components needed to be removed in order to replace the subframe. Such as the exhaust pipe and brake lines as well. All are corroded to a high degree up to and including complete brittle material disintegration. Exhaust and rear brake line cost make it impossible for me to have the vehicle brought back to safely drivable conditions. I have to get to work daily or my family will not eat or have a roof but at a cost of more than what the car is even worth I have no choice but to choose and compromise my safety and those around me or food and shelter for my family. Please help.
The brake lines are rusted from the rear sub frame that was rusted and caused an accident. They told me the sub frame was the only item covered but that they could only bolt it and not weld if and then the exhaust and brake lines (rusted too bad to describe) weren’t covered and since I couldn’t afford it they only repaired the subframe and left the rest hanging ! my brakes failed on the way home. No one was injured but I can’t believe they let me go home with that condition!.
Transmission lines popping off popped off at 60 miles per hour tensed me up it stared smoking pushed the safety hazzard lights on and was able to limp it off the highway its happened 3 times after I repaired them afraid to even drive it now. No no no.
Rear subframe rusting from the inside out. Due to poor design, there is an arch that holds water in and the water can't get out causing it rust from the inside out. Searching mercedes online forums, this seems like a problem lots of people problem and mercedes denies this problem. I haven't had an accident yet, but it seems like it if I don't replace it. . Glove box facing has detached from the lower side. It hangs further out than the glove box and could be a danger to the passenger in the event of an accident or even a hard stop. It started coming apart 3 years ago. From my research on the internet it is a known problem with this model car. It came apart over time from heat and sub-standard glue.
The emergency brake line caught fire underneath the arm rest compartment. Traced the line back to rear tires and nothing electrical could be seen touching brake cable line. So no obvious reason why cable would ignite. I was parked in car port stall after a short trip to a friends house.
Just got off the high way and drive onto a local street, the car would not shift into any gear forward or reverse. End up having to tow the car. Luckily it didn't happen while I was at the highway.
Roof leaks passenger side. Have taken it into the dealer 4 times between Nov 2014 and Apr 2015 (2-1/2 months in shop plus 97 miles driven) and still has not been fixed.
The contact owns a 2012 Mercedes Benz Slk350. The contact stated that the vehicle had a bad odor. The vehicle was treated (cleaned, vaporized, filters were changed, interior was ionized) by the dealer; however, the odor recurred continuously. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Moved from san francisco to palm springs, upon being in the desert with increased temperatures, my car started emitting strong fumes that smell like burning crayons, thought it was coming from exhaust because it was burning my eyes and causing headaches. Took into dealer at palm springs mercedes, and they informed me that they have had this problem before due to the wax that is in the body of car to protect from corrosion. They stated that when the wax heats up it melts and causes this odor. They removed the wax from the interior of doors, but this did no resolve the issue. They have documented that the odor is still there, but refuse to work on the car anymore. I want them to buy out the lease but they are refusing. The mercedes dealer told me to get a lawyer. He informed me that this has happenend several times before, but mbusa is refusing to take responsibility for it. I can't drive the car without getting headaches and burning eyes. What can I do about this. Please help. I did not pay for a car that you can't drive without these problems. I am also concered about the chemicals that are burning and if these fumes are toxic or damaging to the health. I cant find the name of the wax to look up the msds.
