One problem related to speed control linkage has been reported for the 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Was pulling out of parking lot when vehicle suddenly accelerated. Had foot on brakes at time, but brakes failed to stop vehicle. Hit another vehicle, and finally came to a stop after fuel cut off switch kicked in. Had vehicle towed to dealer & was informed by mechanic who activated the valve in trunk & was able to restart vehicle.
