Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis

Two problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2000

When brakes were applied pedal became hard, resulting in extended stopping distance which caused a collision. Dealer was inspecting vehicle.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 11/06/1999

Vehicle downshifted into passing gear while driving down a hill and vehicle accelerated. Brakes did not response, causing consumer to run into a bus and telephone pole. Also, dual airbags did not deploy. But, cover came off, resulting in a broken hip and pelvis. Prior to this accident consumer was complaining about transmission. But, dealer stated it was not important.
