Four problems related to mechanical jack have been reported for the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that while changing a flat tire with the factory jack, the jack bent and caused the vehicle to fall off the jack. The contact was able to change the tire and then called the manufacture. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was outside of warranty so there was nothing they could do to assist. The jack was not replaced. The failure mileage was 81,000.
Vehicle's passenger side front tire blew out and while changing the tire the jack collapsed. The jack the consumer was new since this was the first time the vehicle ever had a flat tire. The consumer took the jack to the local dealer who offered to order a new one which would have to be paid for. The consumer refused the offer especially since the replacement was the same as the one that collapsed. The consumer believes the jack is not sufficient to raise the vehicle.
Chaulking block cut to fit the tire. Dealer & manufacturer basically didn't have any information to give regarding equipment. Recall id 00200000 manufacturer's recall 00s13.
Instructions are inadequately worded for an ill designed jack system. Angling of blocking of wheels when blocks were not provided when it indicated blocks provided. Recall #00v200000. The instructions for wheel change are misleading.
