Six problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. While driving 75 mph with the speed control engaged, the speed increased when the brakes were applied and failed to disengage. The contact was forced to manually disengage the vehicle speed control in order to avoid a crash. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in to be repaired at his expense. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
The contact owns a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. While driving at any speed, the traction control light flashed and the vehicle lost acceleration. The contact attempted to accelerate, but the speed would not increase. The dealer charged $100 for a diagnosis, but could not duplicate the failure. The contact is afraid that a crash could occur. The manufacturer was notified; however, they felt that the complaint was unimportant. The failure mileage was 135,000.
While slowly parking vehicle, consumer states the vehicle all of a suuden lunged foward in full acceleration, it jumped the parking bumper and into the vehicle in the opposite parking space, sideswiped another vehicle and pushed the first vehicle into a third vehicle, the brakes had no effect in stopping the vehicle.
Vehicle downshifted into passing gear while driving down a hill and vehicle accelerated. Brakes did not response, causing consumer to run into a bus and telephone pole. Also, dual airbags did not deploy. But, cover came off, resulting in a broken hip and pelvis. Prior to this accident consumer was complaining about transmission. But, dealer stated it was not important.
While sitting in traffic vehicle jumped out of gear and lunged forward, rear ending another vehicle.
The vehicle accelerated forward with the drivers foot on the brake pedal, and hit another vehicle in front of it. Dlr has seen vehicle.
