The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic or repair of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000. 2 Seat Belt problem

The seat belts do not restrain. Also, the steering rod was broken and fixed at the last inspection which was 5/2018. We were told that the seat belts would cost $1500 or more to repair. I saw on this website that there was a recall on seat belts not restraining.

3 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2010

The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that the front driver side seat belt was abnormally loose around the contact while fastened. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but they did not diagnose the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 41,000.

4 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2008

The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that the front seat belt would not retract. The failure started intermittently but became progressively worse over time. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recalls associated with NHTSA campaign id numbers: 00v083000 (seat belts: front: retractor) or 00v157001 (seat belts: front: anchorage). The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 117,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

5 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2006

: the contact stated while pulling the seat belt, the retractor mechanism locked making it impossible to buckle the seat belt. The dealer indicated the spring in the retractor mechanism was broken and it needed to be replaced.
