Accelerator Pedal problems of the 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis

1 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2007

2007 Mercury Grand Marquis accelerator problems. Consumer states that the throttle is up to high and he doesn't even have to push the accelerator down, it automatically moves when it is put into gear. The consumer stated when he removed his foot from the accelerator, there was no noticeable deceleration. The dealer informed the consumer the throttle control sensor was set at the factory and was not adjustable at the dealer level.

2 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2007

Brake and accelerator pedals are too close together at same height. On several occasions, when attempting to brake I found myself accelerating since the brake and accelerator were both depressed pedals were not adjustable.

3 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. When the brake pedal was depressed the accelerator pedal also depressed. This failure caused the vehicle to both brake and accelerate simultaneously. The contact stated that the pedals were too close together. The dealer and manufacturer stated that nothing could be done about the failure due to lack of complaints. The failure was noticed while driving 35 mph. The current and failure mileages were 800.

4 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Grand Marquis. While driving 25 mph the power adjustable foot pedal failed and almost caused a collision. After applying the brake pedal the accelerator pedal adjusted itself without warning to the same level which caused the driver to engage the accelerator pedal. The Ford dealer misunderstood what the failure was, therefore, diagnosing the vehicle to be operating normally. A diagnosis was performed by a sec ond mechanic, and while driving he was able to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 180, and the current mileage was 260.
