Catalytic converter fail, engine idles rough while in park. High loss of engine power while driving differentials in back tires are imbalanced…timing fail. Steering not calibrated, drivetrain out of sync altogether. Back wheels, left and right; randomly spin & torque hard while car is already in motion on any private road, hidden road, domestic road and high capacity, high speed highway, causing vehicle to fishtail uncontrollably and dangerously, and wildly side to side potentially veering off the road which could result in death unless the driver regains proper control of vehicle. Out of sync car computer and the mechanical devices built into car do not have proper timing performed on those particular moving parts altogether. The car was not manufactured properly mechanically nor electrically altogether. Headlights & electric system etc have an incomplete recall on my vehicle. 2mehm75w04x608779.

The car will suddenly and without warning accelerate to 5000 rpm's. Had throttle body and mas replaced which seemed to help. However, it still happens once in a while (once every 3 weeks average). Usually happens after shifting from park to drive and driving forward at low speeds (around 5-10 mph). Hasn't happened at higher speeds. Was told by one mechanic that the computer is defective???.

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. While driving 25 mph and entering a drive-thru lane at a bank, the contact attempted to shift the vehicle into park; however, the gear failed to shift. The contact engaged the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the gear shifter failure was experienced in approximately 2016. The vehicle was towed to malloy Ford (1911 valley avenue, winchester, va 22601, (540)-667-4434) and repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then towed to a repair shop where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter cable failed. The gear shifter cable was replaced and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,000. Li.
Coolant leak from crack in plastic intake manifold. This car only has 97,130 miles on it and well cared for. They should not be using plastic in this application - it should be iron or aluminum. This is a common problem I was told with the 4. 6 v8 engine. Ford needs to recall these and replace at no cost to customer. I will be writing a letter to Ford if the dealer doesn't cover this as a recall. Ridiculous to use plastic in this application.

I was driving along when my tire blew out. The car spinned into traffic and hit a wall and guard rail but did not hit any cars. My whole front end was smashed in and long the one side of the car scrapped up. The air bags did not deploy!!!.
Plastic intake manifold on 4. 6 liter engine found to be cracked and leaking coolant. The loss of coolant results in the vehicle becoming disabled and/or unsafe to drive. Leaking coolant is also toxic to children and animals, as they are more likely to be in contact with coolant on the ground or garage floor. This defective part (plastic intake manifold) was identified by Ford motor company as defective and quietly settled in a class action lawsuit. Replacement parts have been redesigned. However, Ford did not contact customers with this model car to notify them of the defective part or to offer resolution. Earlier models of this engine (and all other engines) used a metal intake manifold. These were not problematic. Intake manifolds are not a moving part of the vehicle engine, and are not subject to ware. The plastic material used in the problem manifolds are not able to withstand the normal temperature fluctuations of a vehicle engine and are therefore prone to failure. Ford has been contacted in an attempt to resolve this issue, but the company has declined to offer any resolution whatsoever.

Tl-the contact owns a 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the gear lever needed to be shifted into neutral in order for the overdrive to activate. In addition, the contact stated that the gear lever was unable to engage into park. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign numbers: 83v028000 (power train) and 83v017000 (power train). The failure mileage was 66,000. Djr.
My wife was driving around 25 mph and less than one mile from our house. When she applied the brakes to stop at a stop sign the engine revved up. I was riding with her and observed the engine rev to around 2,500 rpm before slowing down. I also observed that her right foot was on the brake and that nothing was touching the accelerator. The cruise control had not been turned on. This was at least the fourth time this year that the engine reeved up when the brakes were applied. The dealer could not find the problem and the engine did not reve while the dealer was testing the car.

The contact owns a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that the vehicle started stalling with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer advised that the transmission would need replacing. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 126,000.
I applied the brakes at around 20 miles per hour on January 25 and the motor accelerated for one or two seconds. I was able to stop the car by pressing the brakes much harder than normal. On January 26 I applied the brakes at around 60 miles per hour and the motor again accelerated for one or two seconds. I continued to press the brakes, the motor slowed down and the car eventually slowed. It sounded like pressing the accelerator down hard to pass another car on a two lane road.
I did owned a 2005 freestar van until I traded it off, while driving the motor just quit running after getting the van restarted with no trouble the tranny would not go forward or in refeverse. The tranny light came on so I had to have the tranny rebuilt at my cost plus the toll bill. Fordeshould take of this problem before someone gets a fatal accident and reinburse out of pocket money to all that file a complaint.
I have had 37 instances of engine acceleration when I brake with my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The first instance was in may, 2007. I depress the brake pedal, and the engine first slows to approx 850 - 900 rpm then begins running up to over 2500 rpm. The dealer says I'm hitting the brake and the gas at the same time. I've tried doing that and it is extremely difficult. I suspect a computer malfunction where the braking is triggering a computer-initiated engine acceleration.
Rear axle and bearing noises. Marquis bought new. Owner's son-in-law noted minor bearing noise in rear when visiting in 2004. Son-in-law received car after death of mother-in-law in 2012, car had 24k miles at that time. Noticed pronounced rear end noise at that time (a whaa-whaa-whaa matching speed changes). Left rear axle and outboard bearing found to be pitted and were replaced by independent repair shop. Research by owner indicates that axles for this, and other similar Mercury and fords had factory axles installed that had not been properly heat treated. Now, Nov. 2014, at 43. 4k miles the right axle is starting to exhibit noise similar, so repair is up-coming. Will examine NHTSA recall 04v328000 as noted here in other comments posted. Also reference Ford/Mercury service bulletin 0355.
